More Beatles please, Mr Moyles.... really enjoyed that this morning ! The Moyles should have been on the "10 hour takeover" yesterday, and it would have gone far better ! At least with his little mini-takeover this morning, he seemed to grasp the point of playing things NOT already on the current playlist ! :-) :-)

I didn't hear it as I'm off work so explain? Is he playing older music as we suggested on this here board? I may listen again.

yes, he was clearly playing "the beatles", which would appear to be "older music " (rolls yet more eyes).

It was really only half a song, and it was happy birthday, and it was for Noel Gallagher, who celebrates his 40th today (I think today). Then while he had the album out he played around with it, demonstrating the differenced between "mono" and "stereo" recordings. It was done more for the "geeky radio techy" aspect of it, as opposed to the "playing old music" aspect.

I enjoyed the Beatles tunes too. Come Together and Helter Skelter are my favourites, with Taxman running a close third, altho alas we didn't get any of those. Still made a nice change tho.

I wonder what precentage of the audience were listening and complaining that they didn't know/like any of the songs cos they are too young? I mean the Beatles split before I was born, but my dad played them constantly when I was growing up, and in fact still does. I guess if I were 15 now, my parents would be 35/40, and too young for the Beatles themselves!

Neither my mum or dad were interested in music really but I still know a large proportion of Beatles songs... its like osmosis.

I'm 23 and I like the Beatles. In fact, my mum is 44 and although she obviously knows their work well, she's not a fan of them. My dad's the same age as her pretty much but he's irrelevant because if it's not on Classic FM he doesn't like it.

I tend to assume everyone does, but I'm not sure. We've had the Hollies play here a few times, and I sort of think of them as in a similarly classic league, but a quick straw poll of my colleagues (who are mostly aged 18-24) revealed that most of them had never heard of The Hollies. I was shocked.
