It's the worst when you're stuck between service stations and you need the loo. a dog or a child in the car makes it a hundred times worse also.

I'm betting he has: sewing kits, compasses, glasses to hand, condoms, the works...

Haha, well I've never needed a compass and the map is in the car already (otherwise I definitely would forget it), but I'm certainly not perfect and we all run late every now and again, but I just don't see why it gets to people so much.

It's when you have no choice but to join it.

I wouldn't say I find it annoying, just frustrating.

I think there's a difference

Over Christmas we stupidly decided to drive to Portugal and got caught in this massive gridlock around Bordeaux for two days. It got to the point of anarchy, people were ramming each others cars, the service stations ran out of food, everything. That's the time when you pray for a helicopter. None came.

Indeed. And the moral of the story, if ther's a moral at all, is avoid driving around the time of public holidays!

I kid you not. It appeared that every Spanish and Portuguese ex-pat was driving back through France along the same autoroute. I think there was a big football match in Bordeaux aswell to add to the misery. The Gendarmes just did nothing.

OK I can see how two days would be frustrating (actually, I've seen how the French drive (Parisians at least) and I don't fancy driving round France thank you very much) but even, as Zoot says, when you've got no option but to hit a traffic jam, I don't see it being much of a problem. It generally takes quite a lot to frustrate me though.

Now that I don't believe. French authorities? They wouldn't do nothing - they would check out whoever looked like winning and side with them.

Sorry but that was the Italians, the French just wave white flags, and capitulate away.

If your going to use sweeping generalisations based up events which unfolded over 60 years ago you might as well get the country right !

I am telling you as a friend !

I know the Italians are the world experts at that, but the French did a pretty good job too. There were a hell of a lot more collaborators than resistance, anyway.

Shhh, you can't mention that, it's part of the history we're re-writing.
Oh that and the fact our King at the Time actually agreed with Hitler, and had tea with him etc
