Hark at the silly old boiler.

Well its only a few years old, but an unusual make, and over a week and a half ago it packed in on me, needs a new part. I've no hot water.

More plumbing news next week, for all you plucky plumbing fans.

Our boiler is broken as well at the moment. Is this a common problem i wonder.

Can someone explain to me in simple terms a mere woman would understand what a Combi boiler is please? People keep telling me I need one, and I would like to know why.

Yes, but I think I might have a better chance of understanding the answer if it comes from a real person! Plumbing is really not my thing...although I'm good with drains.

I also detest most housework. I've been thinking for about a fortnight that the bathroom really needs a clean but I just can't bring myself to it.

Kendra, you had chemo yesterday, you really shouldn't be cleaning toilets. I have no such excuse though.......

modern woman can do whatever they want, right? so if getting a man to clean for them is part of that, more power to them.

and yeah yudster, i had chemo yesterday. it was stupid to put myself in a pukey situatiuon.

i just had my second chemo treatment, and everything's been good so far. my surgery went well and i'm healing well, so everything's looking up. my hair is really falling out though, so i have to shave my head today or tomorrow.

Yep, modern woman can cope... a lot of stuff in life is there to test our mettle! How well can we cope! We ALL get hit with things...! In my book, you dust yourself down, and you get right back UP ON YOUR FEET.

My best friends Brothers G/F is suffering from Breast Cancer and was told a while ago it was terminal. She had Chemo just before Christmas and apperently she only started feeling better in January, bless her. Hopefully ( :-( ) she's coming to see Bill Bailey with us in November. She has a ticket...

They can be wrong when they tell you it's terminal y'know... a friend of mine's brother was told he had weeks to live about nine years ago. He's alive and well and the cancer has gone - that's not particularly rare either.

it's amazing what sorts of treatments are available these days. doctors like to be conservative with their prognosis, but the new ways to attack tumors are out of this world. my uncle just bounced back from livercancer that was supposed to be terminal. i know it can't always be the case, but i believe that modern medicine and the will to live can prevail most times.

If I had cancer and was sick with chemo and not sure if I was ever going to get better and someone said that to my face, I'd dredge up the last vestiges of strength I had left in me and smash their face in. Sorry viv.

Something that is irritating me today:

Behind me is a window, the window is open coz its a hot day. On the other side of the window is a car. A silver Toyota if anyone cares. Someone has obviously bumped into it at some point so its alarm has been going off every five minutes for about 30 seconds a time. Then it stops, waits and does it again.

Every time it goes off, I get a fright and I fear for the saftey of my boxers.

I agree wholeheartedly about the car alarm irritation. The thing that always gets me are elderly people in front of me in the queue spending ages buying lottery tickets and holding everything up. They're never going to win. I wish they would just save thier money.

I have an update on the alarm, car fans - after once again "wetting me kegs", I have investigated and... AARRGGH there it goes again... I think its coz the daft owner has left the window open. Cars don't like such things.

They're daft things those car alarms. Even when one goes off in the middle of the night, nobody dashes out attempting to apprehend the evil car thief. We just all ignore the bastard things, correctly so. Defeats the whole object though really.
