There's a definite biographical feel to the books you lot are reading! Doesn't anyone read fiction anymore? Great Biog is the Bookseller of Kabul! Wonder how long we can talk about books before Gaspode or Topher have a go at me!

it's sad sort of, because i can't really get into fiction. i like some of it ok, but i just don't seem to be able to find good novels.

I'm re-reading "A confedaracy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole, this will be the 3rd time, but it is a great book (in my opinion)

I've still to finish "An adventure of English" by Melvyn Bragg, which I must admit I'm finding a bit hard to get through.

And I'm still plodding on with writing something that may never be printed, but hey ho!

You should tell Joe to read Money by Martin Amis. Its very similar in style to The Catcher in the Rye. But with more porn.

I bet you can't find me a fiction I like. I only read real-life. My book collection reads like a who's who of prisons and Death Row - the Wests, Gacy, Shipman, Bundy... that's what intrigues me the most.

Didn't say you had complained Gasbag! Was just amazed you can read - but did get the pratchett ref. Been a while since I read Mr P but wasn't Gaspode full of doom and gloom too?

Bet I can find you something you'd like! Crime is my fave and I love gorey stuff. Let me think.

Oh and am just picking on him cos he seems to hate me for no apparent reason - think he doesn't like newcomers? Or is he like this with everyone?

They bury him in a coffin with a bottle of whisky a porno and a walkie talkie then go on to next pub planning on going to dig him up later. They all die in car crash on way to next pub. only person who knows where he's buried is the business partner of the guy in the coffin will he tell anyone where he is?

Books (which this thread seems to have diverted to) - I am reading Michael Asher's biography of TE Lawrence at the moment, and I have to admit I am struggling a bit. Press on.

If it's too dull STOP reading! Life's too short to read something you're not enjoying! There are masses of great books out there honey, read something enjoyable instead!

It isn't dull, its fascinating - I'm unconvinced about the author's integrity though, thats what I'm wondering about. And to address a later point - I do like fiction very much, but there is precious little new fiction out there worth reading. And yes, I do look, and yes, I do know what I'm talking about - even if I became the black sheep of my large family of librarians by not becoming one myself, the need for literature is inbred, and strong.

librarians are dullards. most of my library school classmates have weird feelings about reading. their hobbies include, reading, books, and talking about books. i think any book will do.

Similar to this thread then. Librarians must have decided to invade this weekend, though in such a quiet way, I was looking the other way. Typical. I miss all the fun.

i'm not one of those shushing bunhead librarians. i'm loud, brash, and all about the organization of information.
