In my defence, I'm on some rather strong pain medication for a painful knee injury. I think I'm a little out of it.

A friend of mine from another forum was flirting with the idea of Scientology last year. Ultimately, she didn't go through with it but it's amazing how easily some people are sucked in. In the celebrity-obsessed world we live in, Cruise, Travolta et al are exactly what Scientology needs for recruitment.

I also watched the Scientology rebuttal, but was surprised to see that they didn't try to damage Sweeney's credibility and character, as they did with former 'church members' and critics. Maybe they couldn't find any skeletons in his closet.

They did in the videos I watched. Phrases like "this hack of a journalist" and "Never had any intention of a balanced documentary - This is one of the many problems Scientology faces when dealing with the Media"

Very true, but I meant specific allegations, like the ones made against the guy who ran the Cultwatch show in the documentary. The cult had dragged up all kinds of dirt on him but nothing on Sweeney, hence their resorting to name-calling.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more. If the cult wants to woo more members (subscribers? mugs?), it has to be more media friendly. Couch jumping and diatribes on psychiatry don't cut it.

All religions are cults.

The word cult just means to follow one one person... one idol...

So...
The Christians follow Christ... Cult
The Buddhists follow Buddha... Cult

They are all cults!

What atrocious ignorance. Never mind.
