Not a stupid question at all - but you have to understand that when I was a kid there was BBC1, BBC2 and ITV. And ITV was really, really really crap. I think m,y parents recognised that crap telly would ruin us, and shielded us from it.These days all telly is crap, and my parents have been proved right.

I'm not sure that it was thought of as corrupting, just liable to dull us to pulp-brained blobs. Like I said, look around you......

I think it was the adverts that were corrupting. We weren't allowed TV or Radio on in a morning either.

I wasn't allowed to watch ITV either. It didn't bother me until i realised how much better Tizwaz was than Swapshop and what i had missed out on.

I first discovered ITV at a friends when Childrens ITV first started. It seemed exiting at the time because they didn't have an equivalent on BBC really. A couple of years later, i went to see the Pink Windmill being filmed. My views on ITV have remained the same since that point.....

My parent's didn't approve of the adverts! I remember everyone else watching Jaws back in the 80's and I couldn't join in on their conversations cos I watched Day of the Triffids instead! - actually think I got the better deal now

Day of the Triffids was a classic. I used to watch that with my dad and it always used to scare the pants off me.
