Indeed. And I like those nice trunk-style undercrackers. With the enticing buttons.

Can we go back to talking about Curry please? I'm Hungry...

Mrs Zoot's Dad only likes those curries you get from the Chinese.
To me thats kind of defeating the object of having a chinese!

Quite agree. And this is probably heresy, but for me, the kind of curries you can make at home, whether from scratch or using a sauce from a jar, aren't anywhere even close to being as wonderful as the ones you get from the takeaway. Right now I think I might kill for a prawn bhuna with pilau rice. And I love chinese takeaway food too. Such a philistine.

I've never really understood the point of the food you get from the chinese. It might just be the restaurants around here, but it all tastes the same and generally not of very much.

I like currys but they aint such a huge fan of me. It can get a bit messy, so I tend to steer clear of them as well. I always cause problems when theres a bunch of us just wanting to get food in.

Mushroom biryani. You get a sort of vege curry as a side, so it's the best of both worlds. Particularly when it's preceeded by poppadoms and yoghurt&mint sauce.

Biryani is a bit bland though. I like something more oomphy - although not too hot, you can't taste anything when its too hot.

Birmingham is the spiritual home of the Balti, I understand. I have never quite cottoned on to Balti - I need educating, I think I may have to visit our regional office in Birmingham soon!

It's because of the Kashmiri connection i think. You should try one in Birmingham however. All the Balti places have rebuilt themselves after the tornado collapsed everything and are looking rather shiny and new.

Wasn't the first UK Indian restaurant in Birmingham? And isn't it still there? Not far from spearmint Rhinos by the Bullring?

It wouldn't surprise me. In fact i've heard tell that Balsall (as in Balsall Heath in Birmingham) is olde English for Balti.

Not died, just had a bad weekend before the end of the month - its the way it works in the pub industry.

It will be busy next weekend with pay day and the bank holiday.
