It's a bad idea to get it for at least a year yet. Don't even think about getting it on a minimum-spec PC.

Do get it, but not just yet. Wait for all of the security holes, various bugs, and also the incompatibilities with other company's software to be fixed.

Some people have managed absolutely fine with Vista. Seems some forget this too easily.

I know a couple of people who are using it, there are a few glitches it seems, issues with peripherals and such. Forgive me though dave-tricks, but I don't believe you have been anywhere near it.

Is it as gash as the newest version of Internet Explorer that crashes every 3 seconds? I was thinking about getting it but there's no chance in hell it will run on this PC and I'll need a RAM upgrade for my laptop.

Yeah, but if they said it wasn't then they wouldn't make any money.

Yes but remember there are many different flavours of Vista, with various specifications depending on features you want. I ran that thing on my old PC and it said I could run Home Premium. That means NO Aero and NO real network functions beyond the basic, and no File Indexing System.

I've got it, as I had to get a new laptop and it came as standard and it runs fine and hasn't crashed once. That said I only use it for the Internet and uni work really, I'm not an massive computer geek

Also the version you have is probably one that runs smoothly on the laptop it was sold with, the hardware is good for it etc.

General rule of thumb: wait for it to be service packed at least once.
