Well said Console, and I enjoy your huge archive of clips lately too, they've brought much joy to the car when theres nothing interesting to listen to in the afternoons as I'm sure older fans of Moyles will understand. If Moyles decided to put his recordings (like Jo Whiley's Live Lounge) onto the shelves of music stores, then Console could certainly expect a fortune if he were given the rights by way as a compliment for his efforts.
Its the podcast thats in trouble in my view, I know the standard does dip when they're on holiday, they've thrown out the 'best-of, best-of' concept and gone with new material, but like with Zane Lowe 'new' doesnt always mean good. I'm very much into editing and I reckon the future of the success of this podcast will be down to how much random stuff you can cram into half an hour - 15 hours of radio dont forget, minus music.
As a big listener (lets not forget why we're all here) I'd love to merely collect great bits of the show and throw them in the mix, it could revolutionise pre-recorded radio, most of TV is pre-recorded so why shouldn't radio put the extra effort in to maximise our listening fun. C0ck it and pull it was a hit, and people are crying out for more of it. But thats the podcast anyway, a small area of the show, its up to them if they love it enough to save it.
I'm looking forward to their return, nothing more to be said really, unlike podcast, live radio really does work, its instant, entertaining and informative, I was won over in 2004 and I've been happy ever since.
