BBC News wrote:Scientists have created a mathematical formula of how to make the perfect bacon butty. Experts at Leeds University discovered the secret to the perfect sandwich lay in how crispy and crunchy rashers were.

They found that two or three back bacon rashers should be cooked under a preheated oven grill for seven minutes at about 240C (475F).

The bacon should then be placed between two slices of farmhouse bread, 1cm to 2cm thick.

Bollocks, everyone likes their bacon different - I hate all these useless research projects.

My bacon should never be crispy.

I agree. I like mine fairly lightly cooked.

Mum likes it black - which is wrong.

The rarer the better. I had a dream that I was eating raw steak last night for some reason.

Charlalottie knows (except for the onions. And the ketchup can be swapped for mayonnaise.)

Mushrooms are horrible.

Parma ham is more cured than normal bacon. (And, if im gonna be really know-it-all, parma ham has to come from the Parma region of Italy)

Although, in theory, you can eat bacon "raw" so to speak coz its been cured.

I wouldnt want to put my faith in the cleanliness of the packing place that it comes from though.

I'm a vegan too and I buy vege bacon made by Redwood Foods which I love. Dunno if it's much like real bacon, it's 16yrs since I ate any so i don't really remember what it was like. My mum says it does smell like real bacon when cooking.

it's so people who don't wish to eat dead animals can still have something nice on a sandwich. seems simple enough to me.
