Funny how people get 'bored' of things when they know they're losing or in the wrong...

by the same token you dont win arguments about slagging off where people are from by doing exactly the same in return.

This post started off sayin how good it was to hear The Proclaimers back on the radio, (not to start slagging matches between Scotland and England).

Although it does make me laugh with regards to football, that after England not doing too well in their group and their rather lame attempt on saturday that when the fans spoke on the news afterwards that they think have the right to demand getting their money back!!!

The fact that we are still on a Scottish based topic is a miracle in itself.

We are talking about chocolit cornflake cakes in another thread - god knows how we got onto that!

Why don't we play Football as the UK then ? That way we could include all the best players based on how close they live to London!
By GomeztheBand
#275833
doing that would it not rule out the majority of the players in the Uk
I really don't like football, but don't agree with that at all.

Surely choosing any elite team rules out most of the players in the available pool?

I know mate, the bit about London was a joke, the UK side bit wasn't

I live in Plymouth, and it's amazing how all the journalists always refer to how bloody far away it is. Very much like Scotland. I am with you on this fellow Celt ( Cornish )

Why spend 747 million on Wembly when a Stadium in Birmingham would have been better for us all ! Well I'll tell you, it's becuase people in London like to put as much on in the Area so they can complain about the ficking traffic all the time !

Nothing in Birmingham would have been better.

Everyone complains about London getting the lion's share of anything, but at the end of the day it's our capital city (and deservedly so).

Maybe its my northern chip on my shoulder but why should a capital city dominate a country so much? There are few capital cities in the world as dominant as London is in this country. Nine Billion pounds for an Olympic games and to regenerate part of a city when the money could have been spent much better elsewhere. Theres a reason Northern cities are only now starting to become even slightly attractive to people and thats because finally there has been some regeneration money there.

You're probably right - I've never lived up there so I didn't really think of it like that. I do think London is a great city, though I'm sure there are some decent ones up north (I like Liverpool).

I think Liverpool is in the process of getting there and this European Capital of Culture thing has been the driving force behind changes that were on the way. Manchester is a great city but a lot of people I know mark the turning point as the IRA bomb. Leeds is now supposed to be pretty good as well although I can't say I have been too often but some of the smaller places still need a lot of development.
