The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Why is everyone speculating on whether Chris would be able to fit X Factor around the radio show? How much talk has there been on this forum over the last year or so about "when do you think he'll give up Radio 1" - I don't want him to stop doing the show, but the amount of TV he's done in the last year surely indicates that he is thinking of moving on, if he gets the chance. Well, maybe this would be the chance. And I thought he was lovely on the Charlotte Church show. I know he said he'll do the show as long as people want him to, but thats not a very specific statement really, is it? I hope he manages to do both, but I wouldn't be surprised if he began to move away from Radio as the TV stuff builds.

From today's Sun:
Simon revealed there would be a new male and female judge.

When quizzed on rumours of DJ Chris Moyles signing up, he said: “We haven’t spoken to Chris yet, but he could be a number of people whose names are thrown in the ring.”

Simon denied reports that Cat Deeley would be the next host, claiming: “We have genuinely not picked anyone yet.”

I dunno if you have read the book (and if you haven't dont bother) but it is clear that radio is his love. I think whatever he does he will always do some form of radio.

I love the Moyles, but on TV he's just not good, he never has been, and never will be ....... he should stick to what he does best, and that's radio.

This is of course the opinion of the ballbag, and should not be read as gospel.

The Gospel of Ballbag, can't wait 8O
I do think Mr. Moyles isn't best on tv, but he has improved, he would be sitting at a desk, so that may help.
Would be interesting to see how he looks after the first couple of shows, may be right up his street.

hopefully he won't letch at the new female presenter constantly, no doubt he will at the 'fit' female contestants tho'

Yep, I have - its clear that radio is what he always wanted - but the point is that he's done that now, hasn't he? There really isn't anything more in radio for him to achieve - as he says himself, as far as thats concerned, he already has the job that every dj in the world wants - so what's left? It wouldn't surprise me if he left Radio 1 at least. I'm sure you're right about him always having some involvement in radio somewhere, but whether that will involve a regular show or not is open to speculation. But I hate speculation, so I won't.

X factor on films for about three months doesn't it ?
Why couldn't he have that time off and leave Dom & Chappers to do the show, and them come back when finished ?

could he not do both?

Im sure that simon and co manage to run a music company while still doing X Factor - why could chris not do the radio show?

The auditions are in lEEDS, eDINBURGH, mANCHESTER, bELFAST, lIVERPOOL, bIRMINGHAM, and London. Sorry about the capitals. All these cities have radio studios with the BBC.
Surely the show would just move around he country. He hosted about 3 months worth of shows in Leeds whlist his dad was ill, but kept it relatively secret. They could do the same with X Factor. It will surely add ratings to his Brekkie Show.

When were the Leeds shows out of interest?

Also, I doubt the BBC would allow Chris to move the breakfast show around the country to essentially promote an ITV show. When he was a contestant on it it was acceptable to them as it was barely a week, but this is a 4 month - even longer - commitment which I don't think the BBC would be too happy with and that's even before Chris gets a say

It would have to take a pretty big TV show to stop Chris doing the breakfast show.

Maybe part of the plan is there will only be 3 of the 4 judges at the auditions, with a 4th judge coming on to the live shows (which are in London on a Saturday)... insert Chris.

The 3 judges usually mentor the acts as they are industry professionals, Chris isn't in the music industry so I could hardly see him mentoring an act.

you may be right, but as the format is changin, is there not a chance of there being 4 categories? i hope not as this just makes the show about the judges, which it shouldnt be.

and for people saying that he's achieved everything in radio, he's still not overtaken wogan as the most listened to show, which im sure he'd still love to do.

the Leeds auditions were on the 27th/28th/29th June.

Think they were at the Radisson...not sure. Was going to go out there and interview them with Radio Aire but couldn't as I was under 18 and it would be aginst health and safety

Hi Neil, I can't see today's show in the folder, d[…]
