The Mail on Sunday reported today that the Richard and Judy show has been accused of conning viewers over the You Say We Pay game by inviting them to call in to enter after the participants had been chosen, what a shambles.

I think he will miss them conning the viewers. He never saw them doing it, but he will miss them all the same.

Zenon, I wager pretty much all call in competitions are operated in this way. They give them a "heads up" the day before, so that they know they've definately got someone who's definately going to be on the phone the next day.

When you call in for these competitions you're more than likely calling for chance to take part another day. I've heard Chris Evans talk about this once on his show when the kids call in for their fan fare (a very cute feature). I've even heard evidence of it on Celebrity Tarzan, a caller once mentioned how Joce had called them the day before to confirm that they'd be on the next day.

It's just a way of making sure they've always got someone on the line.

It may be good prep on Radio 1/Radio 2 where they are non profit making, but in this case C4 are making money from this and are not rolling the contestants over to the next day when they already have one for that specific day like you say happens on Celeb Tarzan, so it is a con
