Nihal has been on about removing certain words from the English dictionary! (Sunday's show). He would like to see the word "celebrity" removed, because it's used far too often!!

Which word would you like to see removed? I would like to see "BLOG" go!!

They should remove the word "dictionary". That would confuse things!

I would chose two words to remove if I may, they being "pointless" and "thread".

"BLOG": it just sounds so thick and silly! And I don't like blogs either! :-)
It just sounds "heavy": like "dropping a blog on someone"!

"Fowler" is another word I don't much like.... (logs out and runs away). :-)

it just seems like I'm your little target for some reason... if you have a problem with me, avoid me. My topics, from looking throo' a list of stuff, are no more pointless than anyone else's. Have a nice day. :-)

I actually meant 'Why remove it?' as opposed to 'Why don't you like it?'.

What would removing it actually achieve? It wouldn't stop people saying 'Blog' and it wouldn't stop people writing blogs, it also wouldn't change how the word sounds or your feeling on blogs in general. All it would do is remove it from the dictionary, which I can only see as a bad thing as people that don't know its meaning would have a slightly more difficult time finding out. In a worst case scenario (from your POV) it would rapidly alter the general understanding of the word so that the original definintion is lost or obscured and it comes to mean more than it currently does, which would mean a greater useage than it has now; that is something I am sure you don't want.

Yes agreed, just because it sound like log it should be removed ?

presumably fowler rhymes with growler, something I would guess Viv is well placed to comment on

Of course it's a real word, it has something to do with the tenderness of vegitables if my memory serves me right.

From the Collins Concise Dictionary in my office I shall quote you.

"Lush, adj: 1.( of vegetation) abounding in lavish growth. 2. (esp. of fruits) succulent and fleshy."
