Aren't you the same diZZYspOOn (dizzyspoon.co.uk in your sig) as the user on http://www.neowin.net who has an illegal copy of Windows Vista?

Yes thats me. Although I don't use that name anymore. Plus, my vista copy is now slightly more legal (a legal MSDN copy meant for dev only).

Besides, your welcome to hope I get caught too.... but at least my crime is useful, if only for me.

This myspace parodies profile crap is utterly pointless

Thanks....at least i've got some form of feedback from the Master of the Universe, in which the world revolves around!

By the way, thanks to the people who have signed up, have left comments and sent messages. I'm going to get round to reading them and I will try my best to fulfill your requests.

If there are any problems regarding Legalality, I will delete the profile...but I have taken your comments on board Chris. I have even put chrismoyles.net at the band website...so would that be good enough as a comprimise?

I have to say, it does seem to be a bit of a slap in the face to the folk that run this site and spend a lot of time and effort recording, editing and uploading the various clips and sound bytes (for which, they probably never get thanked by 90% of the folk that download them).

If you have done all the work yourself then fair enough, but it looks like you are just copying it from the sound vault here, and the only credit you give is a small link on the page.

In my opinion.

Technically its not allowed on this site, but I guess they turn a blind eye because this site supports the show big stylee.

Its no different to someone uploading Top Gear onto YouTube.

I hope you get caught.

oookay. isn't the problem with this regarding PRS? ie, Chris and whoever else wrote the parodies own the copyright to them. This is from the PRS website:

Copyright in a musical work arises automatically once it is recorded either in writing or by some other means. Works can be recorded - and copyright may thereby arise - in a variety of ways including making a video, tape or CD recording of the work, as well as by the more traditional notation of a musical score. Under UK law, both musical and literary works are automatically protected from the time they are fixed in some material form.

The Act gives a copyright owner the exclusive right to do, and authorise others to do certain acts (known as ‘restricted acts’) in the UK. These are: to copy the work; to issue copies of the work to the public; to rent or lend the work to the public; to perform, show or play the work in public; to communicate the work to the public (includes broadcasting, broadcasting on demand and use of music on the Internet interactive services, including satellite and cable transmissions). No-one can authorise any of the above acts without the copyright owner’s permission.

So it seems that the myspace page and therefore probably the sound vault here infringe copyright. The issue then is whether the BBC care!

I don't think the BBC care as such and there's little they can really do. It does work as free promotion for the BBC, Radio 1 and Moyles.

All i would say is that they probably aren't overly keen on the fact that they don't have any control over it. Basically what i'm saying is that if the MySpace page is well designed, maintained and shows things off in a good light then they have no reason to stop it, like this site, the BBC would seem to turn a blind eye to any copyright infringement on this site as it promotes the show (despite what Moyles may say) in many positive ways.

So if the MySpace page is gonna look good and have enough substance then fair enough but if it's a 5-minute flash in the pan that was done one day when you were bored then maybe it's not worth it.

well my idea is to maintain the myspace site on a longtime basis....and i will be updating it as I go along...I'm currently trawling through messages for song changes and I will take the most requested and try and put them on there.
