Bit on the late side, but did anyone see the Masters final on Sunday?

Top bit of snooker! Felt sorry for Ding, because he played extremely well to get there and at that age it can't be easy to come to another country and get your arse kicked and a barrage of abuse on top of that.

Felt Ronnie redeemed himself from his walking out incident (which I thought he should have been banned for); not only did he play impeccably, but to take Ding under his wing like that showed true sportsmanship.

I guess not many people are interested, since snooker doesn't get a mention on here very often, but thought it was worth a go.

I enjoyed it Topher, especially Ding's 147 the week before which I watched live. It makes all the difference than watching a replay of it because there's always the chance that he'd * it up.

The current Mrs Ballbag even watched it too, and she's in no way a fan of sport, but when he finally did it she was jumping about and screaming with the rest of us.

It truly was great stuff, then of course there was the darts final.......... there's nothing like a nail-biting day of minor sports.

Yeah i watched it, Ding is a very good player and liek Ronnie said, he has the potential to become a Multi Champion, shame about the abuse Ding got in the final but very well played to Ronnie for looking after him and playing "alright" in his words.

I've never understood the facination with snooker.

My friends seem to love the game but I honestly can't understand what makes it so interesting.

I tend to have the same opinion of most sports that you watch on tv. I can understand the enjoyment in playing them, but I find watching sport boring!

Ah I didn't see that live, I saw the replay, but yeah you're right, it is better when you don't know what's going to happen.

As John Parrott (or Steve Davis, one of the two) said, they're that much harder to do if, as they were, the reds are all bunched up because you have to break them up during the break.

Mrs Topher likes sport more than me, she was at the ice hockey with her sister. She got me a puck that flew into the crowd!

I think snooker suffers (to a lesser extent) from the same problem as table tennis on TV; if a snooker player misses what looks like an easy shot, it's easy to slate him, but it's difficult to know what sort of spin he's trying to put on the ball to try and make the next shot. The same is true in table tennis, it's not particularly good for TV because the average Joe hasn't got a clue whether that was a side-spin, heavy topspin or backspin shot most of the time.

There's a hell of a lot of skill and tactical awareness required for both.

I used to love snooker when it was first becoming high profile, back in the eighties - then Stephen Hendry came along and it was all down hill for a long time. However in the last year or two its really started looking up again, and I have enjoyed the last couple of televised tournaments a lot. I even like Stephen Hendry now he isn't such a bloody robot. Ronnie is wonderful, although as a person about as far from normal as you can get without people in white coats doing experiments on you. But given his background, I suppose its unsurprising. I love to watch him play.

I can watch snooker without really getting bored of it. Also it's something I can watch with sound off and Itunes on in the background.

Didn't think so. My age is broadcast somewhere in these forums - I'm not telling everyone again! Suffice to say I have a 18 year old son, a 15 year old daughter, a three year old boy and a husband twelve and a half years younger than me. So you can understand how I might be confused about an appropriate maturity level for myself.

Is the husband the father to your 18 year old?

If so then we can work out your "at least" age. Let's say that hubby became a father at the age of 18, (I know it could be earlier, but that's by the by) so, that was 18 years ago (son's age). So 18+18 gives hubby's current age, 36. Ergo you being 12 years older leads me to summise that you are at least (notice the at least) 48 years old.

On a similar note: If you have a couple of chickens and a fox and you need to cross a river and the fox can only eat one chicken at a time, how many scorpions can you fit on the fox's back?

This is why I don't do maths! I'm going to end up with a mental breakdown trying to work out how to save the chickens and get a million scropions across a river whilst they use a fox as a boat.

You can't, unless you have a box or some kind of protection from the scorpions for the fox.... or alternatively the fox could be dead already and theyre using it's corpse as a boat.... or even the scorpions could be dead.
