"In Britain, the Christmas tree was introduced by King George III's German Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz."

NOT Prince Albert. Prince Albert did indeed make the custom more popular, but it was in fact introduced to Britain quite a while beforehand. Queen Victoria has been quoted as saying that she remembered the custom as a child, so sorry Rachel, you're WRONG again...

Why is Rachel wrong? Rob DJ is the one that's wrong.

must be a new listener to 1) blame Rachel and 2) actually care whether the answer on the sheet is actually right or not.

My apologies to Rachel then, Rob DJ, you're wrong.

And it just irritates me when people on national radio get easily checkable facts completely wrong...

I can see your point there. The thing about getting easily checkable facts completely wrong...

You're right about Queen Victoria having Christmas trees, just one little point - King George III was born nearly 100 years before Queen Victoria, so Rob DJ and Rachel are both correct.

Unless I'm very much mistaken.

....

I'm confused...

How is Rob DJ right in saying that Prince Albert brought christmas trees to England when they had been around, as you so kindly pointed out, for nearly 100 years before Prince Albert was even born?

Oh, and Queen Victoria's earliest mention of a Christmas Tree was as a 13 year old Princess, long before she married Prince Albert and in fact, when Prince Albert himself was only 13 years old. Quite an achievement for a kid to introduce Christmas Trees nationwide before he was even thirteen...

I should learn to read things properly shouldn't i...?

Oh right, you said "NOT Prince Albert. " Why start off with a quote of the real answer, not one from the broadcast to which you were referring!

Cor blimey gov'ner.

Longview01, the word you're looking for is discussion, not moan. So many negative people on here. Maybe you come here to moan - I come to discuss. I don't see anything wrong with that.

No, just explaining I'm not moaning. How you interpret the tone reflects only on you. Enough said.

Comiserations Longview, families can do that to you. Hope they calm down, or some public spirited person bangs all their heads together for you.
