Ok ... it's the work "do" tonight .... (6 of us in total) who .... no offence to the other 5 ...... are rather "geeky/bland" ...... now, I like a drink, I smoke on the odd occasion, but when I have a drink I smoke A LOT ..... These people have always made comments along the lines of "disgusting habit" ... "stinks of smoke" referring to others ..... Do I get pis*ed and smoke away, or do I hide away in the toilet for the night and keep up the "sweet and innocent" act ? What Would You Do ??? X

I've nothing against smokers and I don't mind going into smoky pubs but I immediately rule out a relationship or even kissing a girl who smokes.

Leigh if you're seriously looking for advice, then take the polite option, leave the group when ever you want to have a smoke...... as you said they're geeky gimpers, so you'll probably appreciate the break from them.

Tophoid, I'm with you on this one...... the current Mrs Ballbag said to me when I proposed that she'd not marry a smoker. 4 months later I quit, and haven't had one since....... I even got a certificate to prove it.

Well, I just thought I'd report in and tell you all how it went - I managed to drink a pint before I politely asked (after we had all finished eating of course) if anyone minded if I smoked at the table. Actually ... I asked Clare, and asked her to pass it on, a bit like chinese whispers .... so, I smoked ...... normally I feel the need to smoke as soon as beer touches my lips, so, think I did quite well considering, and don't even feel hungover ...... I think it may be the fags that give me hangovers as I would have smoked a lot more than I did ... but today, I feel fine, although still didn't make it to work on time, but I aint the only one !!
