The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

It's inevitable. Sadly.

But, we must face the fact that Moyles isn't going to be doing the Radio 1 breakfast show forever.

Some might say that he could stay with Radio 1 for many more years and become a kind of John Peel. I doubt that very much - mainly because Moyles doesn't have a particularly deep knowledge of music. Entertaining is his forté.

So, what do you think Moyles would or could do once he finally does decide to fade down his mic on the Breakfast show for the last time?

We know that Moyles has been on television before. Remember his Channel 5 or UK Play shows? Disastrous is an understatement. The man can't do telly.

Maybe in a couple of years, he might decide to retire altogether. He's certainly got enough money squirreled away to do so. But then Moyles isn't the kind of man to sit on his arse all day listening to radio jingles from the 1980s. That's just his current weekend pass-time.

Any ideas or suggestions for a post-Radio 1 career for Moylesy?

This has been discussed a number of times, but is always interesting. I don't think Moyles will ever retire completly from Radio, he loves it too much so he'll always be on the airwaves somewhere. As for post breakfast show - who knows?

It very much depends on the timing and nature of his exit IMO. If he leaves in the next 2-3 years then he may go back to Radio 1 afternoons drivetime or a weekend afternoon slot on Radio 1. If it's longer than that then who knows - he'll probably have outgrown Radio 1 but not yet ready for Radio 2, but it's doubtful he'll go to commercial radio as well.

He's a radio 2 disc jockey in the making.

Isn't that a definition of anyone who ever does daytime at Radio 1?

I find all this very bleak, and I find anyone who reckons he cant learn from his TV mistakes to have a lack of creativity and imagination. Watching the new X Factor clips its clear to see the delight on Chris's face when Sharon says that ITV should give him his own show. The judges said it, he knows it, they know it. Hes an all-rounder, some people just dont get that, harp on about Live With.. as much as you want but the simple fact is the show was a s*it format, does anybody actually like Chris Evans?? If the big man plays his cards correctly (which he has done this year) he will find himself becoming the new Woss being independent and free to rival him in the commercial sector. Shortly after the X Factor appearence I did a thread about him becoming the Saviour of ITV, because I knew he'd finally found out what he could do on TV, simple as that.

Anyone who thinks Moyles can ressurect his TV career based on the fact he sang for 3 minutes per day over the course of a week in a talent competition is sadly mistaken.

Moyles has had formats which you would have thought would have suited him perfectly on tv and they bombed. Why? Because Moyles's radio persona and format does not transend the TV/Radio barrier. Why did Moyles work on X-factor? Because he was a good singer and a good laugh - not presenting the entire show. There is a massive gulf between him on X-factor and him getting his own chat show - half the time Chris can't even interview guests properly on the radio (that's the 50% that are the female guests).

Personally I say give Lucy Benjamin her own chat show since she did so well on X-factor

When Chris retires, it'll mean I won't get up in the morning, because I have my radio set to come on at 6,55 every morning. Sometimes I forget to turn it off on weekends and to wake up to Fearne & Reggie by mistake (not that there's anything wrong with them, its just not my style).

In any case, wherever Chris goes, my radio listening habits will follow.

The Vodafone awards wasn't bad but again it was just short bits. He could probably do something like The Chart Show Live if he could do decent interviews aswell. Might need a bit more interest in new music aswell.

Yeah, that would be good for him as that sort of thing is hard to mess up, no offence to Chris. However it would probably not be worth his while to do something like a chart show instead of the radio (which is what this thread is about) as it would take the focus off him primarily and add other elements into the mix - although as a side interest it could be successful.

The reason X-factor was successful for Chris was that for once it wasn't all about him, as much as we would like to think otherwise. At the end of the day Chris's TV career will always be second to his radio one, as radio is his passion.

Maybe he'll leave the Breakfast Show for a couple of years, try to do an interview-style show, present Eurovision for years, then return to Radio 1 Breakfast Show for ever because we all love him!!!!!

I thought a trick was missed when he didn't get the Never mind the Buzzcocks job, when Mark Lamar left.

the checkered history would have added a vibe.

I think Chris has the Breakfast gig for years to come yet.

As long as the listenership doesn't bomb and he doesn't get fired (the latter is more likely), he could easily do 5+ years.

After that - probably Radio 2. Or Virgin. Wherever he is, I'm sure I'll still listen.

I'm still dreaming of a 10pm-1am show on 5 Live for him... or even Dominic Byrne could do the show. You sometimes hear Andrew Fletcher present shows, and he did Sara Cox's news.

Who's done the longest ever breakfast stint? If he manages that long, that must surely rival it?

I think Blackburn had it the longest, with just under 6 years.

Lets face it, he wont be short of offers when it comes to finishing on the Breakfast show. He may even stay on at Radio 1, but as MC said - he's on the breakfast show for a while yet.

I don't think Moyles is the type to stay on Radio 1 after the breakfast show. Everything else is second best then surely?

Being taken from behind by Mrs White with her hat off. Truely humiliating.
