I did too, my weekends would be quite boring if me and my mates didnt meet up every saturday/sunday to watch the footie down the pub.

Fine if you're interested... but I'm not.
All I see is a bunch of overpaid ponces kicking a bag of air around a field... woo.

Motorsport on a whole is dull, as is ruggers...... run run fall...... run run fall....... run run fall......... run run score. Not to mention all that "row row row your boat, gently down the stream, belts off trousers down, isn't life a scream ...RAH !!!!" ......
I also just don't get basketball........... oh there they go down one end......... score........ there the other team go back down the other end...... score......... now that team's going back down the other end....... score.
That's why at the final buzzer you can still have ridiculously high scores, but only 2 points in it.

Butchered Rugby (American "Football") is just as bad. Stop, start, stop, start, stop, start....etc.

I like rugby. Both codes, although League only recently. Basketball is the single most pointless form of competition since - since - since - synchronised swimming.

Now. I'm with the Horse on this one i am afraid. The minority isn't as small as you think. I cant stand football, rugby or cricket. Football for the same reason as Horse mentioned. The ponce thing is particularly apt.
Reason thus. I love motorsport, specifically F1, Touring Cars, GP2, WRC and MotoGP. Nascar is boring as sh*t, as is drag racing. However, you see these F1/MotoGP guys crashing at about 190mph and getting out of the car/bike straight away and JOGGING back to the pits. A footballer gets kicked in the ankle and is writhing around on the floor like a fairy. When he isnt doing that he is arguing with the referee, gobbing or doing the fake macho thing with other players, while the goalkeeper seems to just shout at everybody.

Also, i dont understand why these guys are paid so much when really they are no better than any local team playing on a saturday afternoon. An average score for a game of footie seems to be 2-1, 1-1, 3-2 etc. The small local teams get similar scores and the same amount of points. Therefore, why are the premiership players so much higher up on pay, fame, heroism?? etc when they can only get the same scores as amateurs? One argument i have heard is the skill and ball work etc. OK, but what is the point of a load of fancy footwork if at the end of the day you are still only going to score a couple of goals. The points given for a win or draw are the main objective surely to work towards winning the league or cup or whatever. You dont get any extra points for dancing about or fancy ball control, or do you? If not what is the difference? 90 minutes of a game when maybe only 1 goal is scored seems bloody boring to me, therefore i dont get the fascination with the game.

Loads of my mates are into football and my best mate runs the football club and i haven't heard a decent argument to my points yet. They all say the same thing. SKILL. Ok but i say again whats the point if you are only going to get the same amount of points.

I'm sorry but that is the most ridiculous argument I have EVER heard. You can apply your weird warped logic to ALL sports. Hence all sports are a waste of time.

Not really. An amateur racing driver is not going to be able to drive an F1 car, whereas the professionals can.

There doesn't seem to be much difference between the premiership and the amateurs thats all.

Why can't an amateur racing driver drive a race car? I see no difference.

I quite like basketball myself. That and ice hockey are the best things to have come out of America.

Basically they wouldn't get 10 feet in one without flying off the track. They would come last, guaranteed.
By Ballbag

Ok, now let's take that logic and transfer it too football (this is good, we're getting somewhere) an amateur footballer wouldn't get 10 ft without being tackled by a pro. An amateur team would lose garunteed.

Go on.... you're turn.

An amateur racing driver racing against other amatuer racing drivers in F1 cars will produce a parallel outcome to professional F1 racing. Same with football. I think the minority is pretty small, but what does it matter? Last I heard there was no law saying you have to like football.

But would they though? I have watched the guys round here play and i watched a few world cup matches and i genuinely couldn't see how the pros were that much better. Bit of cool footwork by Joe Cole and Beckham and obviously the Brazilians but that was it. I swear that every time Lampard kicked the ball at the goal it went over the bar, to the left or right but basically the wrong direction. I could go out there and miss every shot.

Also, my point about crashing at 190mph and running to the pits when a kick in the ankle disables a lot of footballers is a valid one i think.

I've seen some people on the motor way going pretty fast, and pretty straight.... some even take corners well. I've watched F1, it's largely the same thing. Whenever I watch motorsports I always see loads of crashes...... in 10 years of driving I've never crashed, so I think I'd make an excellent F1 driver.

Yes but the cars on the motorway dont do 0-100 in 3 secs and produce enough g-force when turning to snap the neck bones immediately. Also you wouldnt lose 16 litres of sweat driving one for 2 hours.

Well done for your driving record tho, serious.

Excellent we're getting somewhere now. Similarly the guys in the park near you can't run 100 m in roughly 11-12 seconds, they can't sprint about for 90 minutes without needing to have a rest (and I mean really run about). They can't shoot from 12 yards and beat the keeper 8 times out of 10. They can't beat 5 men before rounding the keeper. (By the way, I think your figure of 16 litres is MASSIVELY over exaggerated)

I know 16 litres seems ridiculous but i swear its true. Imagine 8 x 2 litre bottles of coke and you think 'yeah right f**k off' but apparently so.

You are right about the fitness though i cant argue with that one. However, i disagree about beating the keeper 8 out of 10. If they did we would see scores of 11-8 or something like that. They seem to beat the keeper a couple of times if they are lucky.

What about the rolling on the floor when they get kicked in the ankle?
