Thats why I havent listened to Scott last week or this week. He should have dropped it even before the last time he did it.

I'm not a fan, but other people clearly are so I don't have problem. Wouldn't have thought it was popular enough to warrant a book though, but then I'm not in publishing

I do find it funny; it's cringe comedy. I understand why some people don't like it though and as fish heads said, I wouldn't think they could justify a book on it.

I can't believe they're releasing it as a book. I think it's the least funny thing Mills has ever done.

I thought it had some comedy value in the first couple of instalments. This one and the last one haven't been particularly funny at all and even sometimes smack of being made-up.

Sidders, could you possibly suggesting that Mills might lie to his listeners and invent a diary in order to elicit cheap laughs???

*gasp*

I like Laura's Diary. I don't agree it smacks of being made up though; it could be, but the funniest situations often come from real situations, so it could also be entirely real.

Guys.....
What ever you say, Mary has a voice to be rude too. She is lovely in a completly Aural way... check my spelling I mean hearing, although Oral B is a great tothpaste and can't be underrated for fighting unsightley build up of Tartare.

I like Laura's diary, it reminds me of being young and in love, and she handles it well, if it's a fake, who cares, they make it work, and we are all too susepible to fakes, as long as we enjoy it who gives a Pooh ( with a H I am told )

this is fun sober too !

Like everything on Mills show it is made up. He has spent the weeks between the last run of Laura's Diary writing this one. I dont believe a single feature on Mills show is unscripted.

I have always thought Laura's Diary was scripted, but this week some of the exchanges of chat between Laura and Mary sound absolutely real and genuine to me, and I have changed my mind. But at the end of the day, boboff is right, it doesn't matter if it is or isn't, as long as it is entertaining. And many people find it so.

I like listening to it. It doesn't matter if it's made up or not, what matters is the reaction it gets.

The film Fargo starts off with "Based on actual events" but it wasn't it was all made up, still a bloody good film though.
The Office was presented as a "reality" show but it obviously wasn't.

Whenever I listen to Laura's diary there are parts that make me laugh and parts that make me cringe with embarrasment at the situation. Anything that can connect with an audience in that way has done it's job as far as I'm concerned whether it's real or not.

I just heard the last episode - I am now convinced it is real! Mary sounded really concerned when Laura was in tears, so did Scott, and Chappers got really embarrassed, like he would with girls crying all over the place. But I want to know why she stopped writing the diary - I'm assuming thats why there aren't going to be any more? And how lovely is Mel C!

That was a very entertaining last episode and like Yudster says, I'm sure that pretty much proves it's real.

Mary is really an 83 year old actor. She was the voice of the fox in the Fox and the Hound, did no-one spot the clues? She also sung the "Woah Body Form, Body Form for you" in the Body Form ad.

Laura has revealed over on UM (and Scott pretty much said it this morning) that the book will carry on where today's episode left off...

30th of Novemer If I remember rightly...she's even doing a mini signing tour.

Well, I haven't heard it in ages as I stopped listening to Mills for the very reason that I don't believe that a single thing that he does is genuine. Nothing that is on his show sounds sincere to me. You only need someone to say something even slightly amusing and you get raucous fake laughter from the crew in the studio. It is just a crappy show.

As I said before, does it matter if it's genuine or not? Everyone knows that 90% of the stuff isn't live but pre-rec'd but that's only because it would be very difficult to do live and it sounds better and it's a lot sharper after the edit. It depends on whether you find what goes on on that show amusing or not and then it's just different strokes for different folks.

I for one think that most of the stuff like the American phonebook game and that thing he did with the french woman today were genuine just because everyone knows that if it's totally weird and messed up and can happen anywhere, chances are it'll be in America.

Of course it matters. Whether it is recorded or not is irrelevant. Rehearsed is the key. Mills stuff is rehearsed, made up bollocks.
The American phonebook stuff was so obviously made up it was untrue.

Listen, if you enjoy it, fair enough. But lets not pretend that it is original and off the cuff because it is not.

So it's rehearsed - doesn't mean the diary's content is not real. What matters is if it's funny.

RE American Phone book, just go to whitepages.com and check for yourself.

why do people continue to listen to it if they dont like it? mills is crap, lauras diary is crap, that whole show is crap-sychophantic giggling, unfunny links, a show designed for spotty teens (most of you probably are, so forgive me), and office junior workers and not forgetting, chavs.

"you dishin me wiv that talk innit, Mills is like so totally funny an iff you cint seeit then your like so off you ead init.

Year Chantelle what you dun wiv me fegs and my white lightnin'"

I think Scot Mills is excellent, and I haven't has spots for ages, I run my own company and I do not have a single piece of Burbary in my Wardrobe, I have some Mulberry Leatherware, bit no fake louis veton.

So if they have designed it for the target audience they have got it very wrong.

My only complaint is Mills plays too much music !
