Read what I wrote 2 posts later. Also (and I'm not for one bit suggesting that they don't) how is it "obvious" that they love each other?

Some people get married for other reasons. (and again, I am not suggesting that they did)

Not any more they don't. 20 years ago getting married young was much more common than it is now; now people tend to wait longer.

Personally she is the first person that I have come across that has been married that young (18 so it turns out) and I like to think that in 28 years, one sighting is quite rare.

In terms of other possible reasons, (and again, I'm not suggesting that any of these are the case).

a) arranged marriage due to religion.
b) got pregnant and decided to get married for the baby's sake
c) got pregnant and were forced into it by parents
d) tax swindle
e) visa swindle
f) housing swindle
g) a silly bet
h) a drunken mistake in a Vegas casino

It's too early to think of any more, but trust me, not everyone gets married for love.

Fowler wrote:No, not everybody gets married for love but 99 out of 100 do get married for love

Are those rose tints in your glasses?

Fowler wrote:it might not be as common as it was but it still is comman and most people only wait longer because they can't afford to get married as they prefere to buy a house first and then get married.

I don't think it's common at all any more. Whatever the reason is (and it's different in all situations) not many people get married young any more.

Personally I think that's a good thing; I'm not saying Hayley made a mistake, I don't know her or her other half, I'm just saying that in the majority of cases where people marry young it probably is a mistake in my opinion.

I think you're living in the a dream world my friend. Peolpe nowadays wait to get married not for "monetry reasons" but because it's considered old and boring.

Generation X and below all watch programs like "Friends" and "Ally McBeal" and the like..... and want to go out, and drink coffee, and socialise and go to pubs and live in appartments in the city (hence the sudden upsurge of them being built all over the country) and not "settle down" and get married. We want to travel, and see the world and experience new things etc etc....

We've been turned into a generation of people who think that marriage is the end of all social life, when in fact it's not. It's considered boring and old foggie'ish... when it's not really.

That's why less and less people are marrying young.

Sometimes, getting married for love is the worst thing to do - if what you call "love" consists of romantic feeling and exciting moments and pink fluffy clouds and happy ever afters. Because life isn't like that, and if you go into marriage expecting that it will be, you are going to be sorely disappointed. And probably divorced before long. Sounds crazy, but huge numbers of people get married expecting that this one ordinary person will make them happy for ever, so when things start to get more real, a bit tougher, more of a challenge, and the soft fluffy feelings have mostly worn off (which they do, fact of life, though hopefully not completely), they get resentful and start blaming the person they married for the fact that they are unhappy! And they aren't really unhappy often, just disappointed and resentful because they expected all their dreams to come true, and the person they thought would make it happen turned out to be just a normal person with no superpowers to make that happen.

My experience has been that the most important thing you have to feel for your spouse is not romantic love, or sexual attraction but trust. I wouldn't want to do it without the romantic and sexual feelings as well, because - well because why would you?! But top of the list is trust. And I don't think being trustworthy, or being able to discern trustworthiness, is exclusive to older people. It is less usual to get married young these days, for loads of reasons, but that doesn't make it a bad idea.

Lol i like your thinking, it wasnt for any of those reasons. I would like to have a baby at some point, but not right now, i feel as i am too young. As well as getting married at 18, i would of liked to be married, before having kids, as a lot of my 'mates' have had a kid, and have split with the father, one night stand ect. I have always thought its best to be in a stable relationship before bringing kids into the world.

Ive seen it done, my sister has 3 kids, had her first at 17, and the father ran away when she first got preggers.

Also, i dont even live in a council flat/house, we rent an appartment in the city centre of birmingham, what we both work hard for, as i have 2 jobs, he has one full time job. Living in the town centre has its pros, as i walk to work, im lazy like that.

And i still go clubbing every tuesday night (student night cheap drinks :D ) and sometimes on a friday and saturday.

Oh yes, you sound REALLY lazy! (Just in case, you never know on here - yes, I was being ironic!) Good on you, girl.
