A reminder that you can meet Chris this Friday at Ottakar's, Chelsea House Festival Place, Basingstoke for a book signing of 'The Gospel ...' from 5.30pm.

You need to purchase the book in-store, or have a receipt proving you purchased the book previously from that store.

If you have any photos from the event, or any stories of meeting Chris - let us know!

Why does everything equal D (= D) and, why is Chris Moyles less than 3?

There isn't. Why? Well, according to most of the Scottish people on the forum, its because everybody hates them and the English are scum. Which is a self perpetuating circumstance, in my opinion.....!

As i've already bought the book on the internet for half the price!!!!! it means I will now not have the pleasure of meeting Mr Moyles in the flesh!
C'est la vie, I was really looking forward to it aswell.

Hope it goes well. :(

<3 is meant to look like a heart and therefore means "love"

= D I think looks like a smiley face.

HAHA, well im an englishman living in scotland, but u can see the scottish ppl's point, i mean when ever a band say the chillies are touring, they only do 1 scottish gig, usually glasgows secc where as england get about 12 different locations. if moyles hates scottish ppl why dosent he arrange a signing in scotland but only english ppl are allowed to go, u must provide you birth certificate as proof lol.
Seriously tho its not good pr 1stly not to go to scotland as radio 1 and his show inperticular has excellent listener figures and 2ndly, you can only get ur book signed if u buy it from the shop he is in and provide a redepit?!!? that is the nost bizzar, money grabbing scheme i have ever heard. dont get me wrong im a big fan of his show, but that for me is not giving something back to his fans and followers! dissapointing!

Bizarre and money grabbing? The book signings are arranged by bookshops. They are in the business of selling books. They are not public places, therefore are completely within their rights to host an event which is exclusive to their customers. How is it bizarre and money grabbing for a shop to try to sell things?!
And I don't think Chris Moyles hates Scottish people......oh please!!!!!!!!!

You trying to say that fans of chris moyles are all book lovers! i think not, what about those who maybe dont go to book shops, who bought theis copy online or elsewhere and want an autograph? surley they cant deny a fan the right to an autograph!
And book shops ARE public places, the PUBLIC go in them dont they? and as for the bookshop arranging it!?!? ummmm!!

"The right to an autograph"?! What right is that then?!

Bookhops and all shops are not public places, they are privately owned and allow people into them for the sole purpose of marketing their produce. And no, clearly not all fans of Chris Moyles are book lovers - indeed, I'm beginning to see that many of them are barely literate at all - but if you don't want the book, don't buy the book! There are many people who would have like to get their Amazon (other online sellers are available) purchased book signed, but thats not on offer. What IS on offer is to buy a book and at a certain time in the shop where you bought it, get it signed by the person who wrote it. No more, no less. Why are so many people having such trouble with this?!

No not really..... in fact not at all.

Still private property, they just allow you in. If they asked you to leave, you would have to leave.

Yudster I disagree, at every signinging I've ever been to no-one has ever checked to see If I bought the book from their shop or not. Same with Chris on Wednesday (which I didn't I got it elsewhere for cheaper than the place he was at was selling it. Just took it along and queue'd up with it.

At MK they were asking for receipts, but were also accepting the fact that they were in Waterstone's bags.

At Canary Wharf it was great. A big long queue and a girl at the end asking what dedication you'd like in it, security making sure the line didn't block off any shops then when you're close (they did it in batches of 5 I think) one girl would collect all the books up and put them on Chris's table for him to sign so everyoe could have more of a chat with him and there was another girl there who's job it was to take pictures of you and Chris if you had a camera, very well organised I thought.

Shops always say you have to buy it here, cos on the day of the signing it's one of the most expensive places to buy it. Anyone who's not been yet, Get the book for as little as you can and take it with no bag or reciept. They can't refuse (well, politely they can't)

Thats fair enough, but I am talking about the general principle of book signings per se - I would imagine that each one is different, and some are going to be more rigorous in sticking to their rules than others. And if so, great! But the stated principle is simple, thats all I was saying.

I think if the queue is particularly long they are more likely to enforce it.

They CAN refuse - but you are right, probably they won't. I'm a bit of a wimp though, and I would always bet that the time I tried it on would be the one time they actually enforced it, so I would play it safe. Can't do with all this living-on-the-edge stuff, too much for me!
