When I asked at Ottakars in Yeovil, they said that authors sign there because Yeovil is at the start of the south-west peninsula, halfway between Weymouth and Bristol, this allows for a wider coverage, without the need to travel further west.
Still wouldn't like to drive from boboff country all the way up here though!
