Dr. Mockett is Research Assistant Professor in Molecular Pharmacology & Toxicology. Dr. Mockett’s work in aging focuses on the effects of antioxidants on longevity of the fruit fly, Drosophila melanogaster. Past and current projects reveal that enhancement of antioxidant levels does not affect longevity in Drosophila, and genetic manipulations which increase longevity do not affect antioxidant levels. Future projects will investigate the relationships among oxidative damage, repair capability and aging.
