Anyway why is he 'being an arse', just expressing an opinion(true or not), I couldn't careless if he takes the piss out of sports I like, it can still be funny, people take it too much to heart.
Of course he is taking the piss for effect, but I prefer it when he actually has something to rant about. For example, moaning about Steve Redgrave's knighthood (a five time Olympic champion) and saying "all he's done is row boats" for a living. It's stupidly controversial for no reason. I'm glad someone like Carrie is there to offer the other side of the argument.
I'm the opposite to you - if he takes the piss out of sports I like, it annoys me. Especially when the next bandwagon rolls by, and him and Dave jump straight on board.

What England "warm up" game? By "warm up" you clearly mean before the World Cup, but Hargreaves never played defensive midfield in either of the warm up games - he played right back for one half against Hungary but that was it. If you mean that game, then clearly Carrie was right - he looked out of place as its not his natural position.

When I want to hear about sport's or news I listen to FiveLive, not Newsbeat and their watered down version for kids, the radio version of Newsround. Though obviously it's not the biggest issue in the world, I can't see any reason for it.
Just because you listen to Five Live for sports news, doesn't mean everybody else should. Do you think 14 year old kids tuning in for the latest McFly single are really going to switch over to hear the latest sports news?
I can't see any reason to break with tradition - one news journalist reading the news, and one sport journalist reading the sport. Seems sensible to me.
Remember Radio 1 only do specific sports bulletins at peak time anyway - Moyles and Mills.
