To put it simply, no.

For a slightly more indepth answer, read from here.

The only way to do it would for the board to only allow onsite avatars and signiture images, which means that the board will either have to grab and store them all, or allow uploading. It's not really worth the bother when people could just follow the rules instead.

Doesn't anyone on this forum give a damn about staying on-topic?!

Fair enough, was just a suggestion. I think I missed that "dave shave thread" :)

Sorry, my post wasn't aimed at you, it was for bumheed7's benefit.

A 'How to resize' thing wouldn't be a bad idea, but getting people to actually read it might be a problem, just like getting them to read the rules in the first place is.

No, thats what makes this forum good - no one actually minds, not that im actually aware. People are too often use to an army of power hungry regimental moderators.

If you feel the threads needs some guidance back to its destiny, then you are welcome to do the honour of doing this.

Yeah, im computer ilieterate in some areas, image resizing without photoshop being one of them. paint is shocking for it and i wasnt aware you could with photobucket.

as i say, im not that bothered and will just remain avatarless.

*edit* and can i just say that i think a sig like adams (although it complies with the rules) is a lot more eye catching and distracting than my avatar which was 20 pixels too long.

If you dont know, message someone that actually knows. If you dont ask, you dont get.

I'll be happy to help you. And no, paint isnt shocking to resize things.

I don't mind the lack of over-zealous moderation at all, it makes a refreshing change from some forums I have been on. This one is quite nice and cosy and friendly, so far - even the a***holes are tolerated with quiet amusement rather than ranting and sanctions. And I like your banner Adam, an autumnal homage to Andy Warhol? Its purty.

First, Adam's signiture image is actually 13px too big, although I'm sure this was on purpose to prove a point, wasn't it Adam?

Second, I think it's more to do with messing up the page layout and download times than how the image looks, although ones that are too distracting may be dealt with on a case-to-case basis.

Its from The Geoff Show, seem Virgin Radio have decided to give their website a lick of paint. The Virgin Geoff page designed it, it looks very Andy Warhol, also looks like a famous beatles poster.

mental! = )

and adam, in my experience, paint is shockin as it totally distorts the image and reduces the quality by a whole lot. as opposed to photoshop which keeps the image top quality and everything is to scale.
