The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Just wondering what you all thought about Aled producing the show this morning?

I thought he was great, there just seemed to be a more relaxed atmosphere about the show. Even if he was late for The Libertines! Anyway, i hope to hear more from him. For his first day of the week? I thought he did a cracking job!

So well done Aled!

i always love it when aled steps in as producer. as hes there more to make fn of etc. and chris can bend the rules a tad more as he walks over aled a bit. making the show seem more fun. like when sometimes outtakes are better than the real film

Much better than Rachel!! The show flows more and yet he still keeps control! and theres no "YAM YAM YAM"

I quite like all the "Yam Yam Yam" business, 'cos my missus is a brummie and I force her to listen to it 'cos it winds her up no end!

It's the next natural step anyway.

When Rachel does leave, whenever that is (to go into management or an exec role), Aled will become producer - so it makes sense to try it out on a part time basis beforehand.

I got the distinct impression today that dave was allot more relaxed without Rachel in the frame, almost boyish exuberance. Not easy quiz choices though

I havent listened to him as producer yet as I've been on hols and am catchin up with listen again however I think its a brillient idea for them to swap rolls one in four weeks as it will add a tad of change to the show although it may mean him talking less as he has to do more, as I say I havent listened so correct me if I'm wrong

I agree, Rachel is too bossy and can't keep her mouth shut and always buts in. Although when Aled is producing there does seem to be an unusual concentration of, shall we say, certain types of club music all morning. I dont mind but you can tell when he's doin the show.

I noticed that as well, definitely! But TBH I don't mind because it's my kind of music too.

I do worry how much of Chris's mickey-taking out of Aled is genuinely in jest though. If it's not, Aled might have a hard job producing as he'll get ridden rough-shod over...

Sorry to disappoint, but neither the producer or the presenter schedules the music. The music would be the same regardless of who's producing!

Thanks for the positive comments though. I'm loving the shows this week.

3 really good shows this week and no Rachel, coincedence? I don't think so, Rachel's time must be up soon, I'm sure she's a really good producer and all that, but PLEASE don't put her on the air. Her voice and personality are hurendous and she just laughs after she says anything.

Listened to Monday's show & have to say I thought it was great. The atmosphere seemed alot more relaxed (like when Rhys/Will where the shows producers).

I have nothing against Rachel but she does need to chill out a bit & be less strict, she wasn't that strict when she used to do the Saturday shows

I'm very happy about Aled producing> I did not realise till today how much influence a producer can have on the show. I still don't really know what are the responsibilities of live producer if someone know id appreciate some info.
Aled I missed those random and very funmy shows! Great Job!

Aled will probably let you know, but I imagine its the following:

- Checking the studio, microphones etc are set up correctly and working.

- Making sure everyone has the same scripts, playlists, and that Chris has everything where he needs it on the cartwall.

- Playing out the segues.

- Making sure competitions (e.g. Six Weeks Of Summer) are done on time and correctly.

- Looking after guests when they arrive, i.e. meeting them outside the studio, explaining to them about the show etc (especially if they are not familiar with it).

With Chris, I imagine thats pretty much it, because he's done it for so long that he can fill three hours easily. With DJ's on commercial radio, it might also mean accessing wacky news stories, celebrity gossip, stuff to talk about etc.
