Chris hasn’t shaved for ten days and had decided to keep his mini-beard for the visit of “The future Mrs Moyles” today (otherwise known as Pink), who was on after 9 o’clock. Aled wasn’t liking Chris’s new look though and Rachel thinks he looks better clean shaven. Dave thought he looked homeless. With today being Friday and the weekend just round the corner, Chris had a bit of a Friday Buzz Off treat for everyone. He couldn’t decide what song to play out of three possibles though, so got show exec Joe Harland in to choose for him. Chris then of course proceeded to ignore what Joe said and pick One Vision by Queen. Queen and Chris of course means Mick Cohen/Freddie Mercury impressions and by the end of the song Chris was knackered. Aled said he was sure Chris was far too energetic for that time of the morning. The tune went down well though with all 3 mins 56 played. Rachel was the only one to buzz in, on 2:10. Chris was surprised Aled didn’t buzz. Aled said he didn’t only because of Chris’s dancing. Chris said that it was the first Buzz Off track to have been played all in full. (The second actually - after Connection by Elastica on January 6th).
Dave - It’s very surreal. It’s 7:26 in the morning and we’re sat opposite what looks like a fat homeless man doing a bad Freddie Mercury impression.
Chris got bits of donut stuck in his new beard at 8.30. Dave had a go at Chris for eating donuts at that time of day. Chris said Dave couldn’t talk as he eats bagels and marmite for breakfast. Chris and Aled don’t like Marmite while Dave, Jules, Dom and Rachel do. Dom said his wife likes Marmite and cheese sandwiches, which sound disgusting. Following his donuts and the subsequent marmite conversation, Dom and Jules were appalled at Chris’s consistent burping into the mic throughout the 8.30 news and sport. They both interrupted themselves to say he was a pig. Chris said they shouldn’t have kept the news waiting and were so unprofessional. Chris - “You should take a leaf out of my professional book”. At 8.15 Radio 1 had the first play of the new George Michael single “Amazing”. Worldwide audiences were tuning in to hear it and Chris somehow managed to screw it up by introducing it wrongly. He called it Patience when that’s the title of George’s new album, due out on March 15th. The single is out a fortnight beforehand on March 1st. Dave thought it was a grower, Joe Harland likes it and Chris said he wouldn’t give his opinion for a change. I thought it was mediocre at best. You can have your say and rate it at Radio 1 ONLINE. The link is here. I particularly like these comments from the punters - “Totally pants...George you should have stayed in the toilets!”, “Absolutely awful, made me fall asleep”, “Yawn...” and “Was boring, you needed patience to listen to it”. Another popular addition to the playlist then. Yesterday was Aled’s big photo-shoot (minus his covered up spots) for Company Magazine’s Bachelor Of The Year Award 2004. Aled is nominated in the Wales category and will have to attend a Miss World type catwalk event in April when the winner is announced. The prize is a VIP holiday. The magazine photos are out in April. You can rate Aled’s chances of winning via the link below. Chris didn’t think he stood a chance.
Chris - You know you've got no chance of winning don’t you?
Aled - I heard that Jon Tickle’s on the list
Dave - Blimey
Chris - I take it back then, you might have a chance
Here are some shots of Aled in action. Chris thought he looked very camp in the bottom left one. Also, top right - “Who wears pink?”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK SO GOOD WE PLAY IT TWICE - THE GRAND FINAL:
THE FINAL FOUR
LISA - Excitable brummie who hadn’t slept a wink all night. Had her baby son Harvey shouting in the background. Scored 13 on Chris’s show on Monday.
ALEX - From Milton Keynes, Works in event management. Very posh but Dave and Chris agreed she sounded really fit. Scored 11 on Chris’s show on Tuesday.
NICK - A bit of a dullard from Cambridge. Scored 11 on Chris’s show on Wednesday.
LORETTA - Another brummie and another one that sounded fit. Somehow managed to score 18 on Coxy’s show yesterday afternoon.
ROUND ONE: Chris went round asking questions in turn. First one to get one wrong went out automatically. Dave didn’t bargain on the fact they were all really really good when writing the questions though, so after they had all answered 4 correctly each (with some really tough ones - particularly for Alex) Chris started to worry about how many he had left.
Dave - While your doing this we’ll come up with a contingency plan. Rachel....in my office now... (Chris laughs)
Eventually Nick and Loretta got questions wrong and Lisa and Alex were the final two. Lisa sounded like she was going to have a heart attack.
ROUND TWO: After 3 correctly answered questions of sudden death each, Chris did a tie-breaker. The question was “How many licensed yellow cabs are there in New York?”. Chris took each of their guesses off the air. The closest to the real answer of 12,058 was Alex who guessed 34,000. She said she’d take her fiance Ricky for their trip to NY next week. Lisa was too upset to talk and had put the phone down. The competition took so long that by the end Chris was shattered and Dave was thanking god it was over. Chris wouldn’t have minded if he had been going but he’ll be stuck in London. Chris said Alex had been playing the competition for longer than she’ll actually be in New York.
PINK INTERVIEW:
Pink was live on the show after 9 and was 2 days off the fags. She said she’d smoked a pack a day since she was 9. She flew in yesterday and will be on Top Of The Pops tonight. She flies back in in February for her UK tour, taking in dates in Birmingham, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield. Last time Chris interviewed Pink he got her to call up and say hello to Alan Smith. Chris showed her a picture of him on the net. She thought he was a bit young. Alan is going to see her in concert in Sheffield. Pink invited Chris to one of her shows. Him and Dave offered to do support or BV’s for her. Chris flirted with her a lot and after about ten minutes it’s fair to say she thought he was sick, as he talked in detail about how he’d like her to dress up for him in the gear she wears in the new Pepsi ad. Chris had a present for her. A framed picture of them from One Big Sunday in Cardiff, where the two of them first met. Or as Dave put it - “Pinky and Porky”. Chris told Pink to be careful with it as it’s a limited edition. The four main things we learned from the interview were that she isn’t going out with Tommy Lee, likes Chris, her favourite film is Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory and her favourite food is peanut butter crunch (used to be Lucky Charms the breakfast cereal).
Chris had listener questions recorded from yesterday, that she could choose to listen to or ignore.
1 DEBBIE / Didn’t want to hear it
2 KATIE / What is your favourite hairstyle you’ve had? (Pink didn’t sound too impressed). She said her current black haired look.
3 STEVE / If you were stuck on a desert island who would you pick to keep you company out of the following 3 - Chris, Comedy Dave or Aled? Pink said Chris so they could practice his woof woof dance that he showed her together.
4 ROSS / Dull - no question
5 ROBERT / Do you have any piercings or tattoos? She has 20 tattoos and a few piercings
6 JOHN / Do you like pork or stilton sausages? She’s doesn’t eat meat at all, but does eat fish for protein
7 DAVE / Boring question about how she got her name. Chris pretended to be on the line and asked if it was true she’d like to sleep with Chris Moyles.
NO CARPARK CATCHPHRASE TODAY
With Pink the guest in the final hour there was no Roy Walker and Mr Fish today. Carpark Catchphrase will return after 9:30 on Monday.
NO TEDIOUS LINK TODAY EITHER
Due to the New York competition over-running badly and the fact that Pink was on between 9 and 10 meant there was no room to fit it in. Chris said there might be 2 Tedious Links on Monday’s show now as a result.
