So the days big news broke half an hour before Chris went on air and Mark and Lard made a point of handing over mentioning it was 6.59 am and they were off for a good English and a lie-in. The first link passed without any mention of it as Chris asked Dave, Aled or Rachel if anything interesting was going on today and they said no so Chris went straight into a record. He was plugging Zane Lowe’s show tonight at 8pm and said that was his bedtime now. Dave said ‘Good mornin’. Chris said not yet. Dave said he was just practising. In the 3:30 news there was a clip of Ben Cooper (ex producer Ben and now big wig at Radio 1) saying Chris was the UK’s youngest DJ talent. Chris made a point of saying he was 22 throughout the rest of the show and after 4 o’clock he mixed up the clip of Ben so it gave the breaking news Chris was being axed from the breakfast show after a day and Sara was being given the job. Dave said Chris had a problem getting out of bed at the crack of noon - let alone 5 am. Chris said looking at the last few presenters he thought they didn’t have to be in until 7.30. The news certainly made sense of Chris’s plea to buy Celebdaq shares in him yesterday. Dave said he bet Chris is called rolly poly DJ in all the papers tomorrow.
Texas were in the Live Lounge today. Sharleen brought Chris some cookies and booze as a present for today’s news. Dave and Emma saw Sharleen in Sainsbury's last night. Sharleen was tired as she was up at 5am to do breakfast TV this morning. Dave said ‘Imagine doing that.’ Chris added ‘You’d be so stupid to do that’. Chris did his Scottish accent which slowly turned into a highlands accent until he sounded exactly like Cameron from Big Brother. The last time Sharleen was in Chris and Dave were working on their plots to take over the pop world with Ghetto Life so they had to explain to her where it all went wrong. Sharleen was a good laugh and Texas played 2 tracks in the live Lounge with some Canadian ragga/R n B guy from called Kardinal. Chris quoted from Rachel’s notes that he was from the US. Rachel said it said he was in the press release. Chris didn’t believe her though. Chris and Dave
did impressions of Kardinal warming up during a record. It was hilarious yet I’ve no idea why. Chris said it was like a bad impression from Bo Selecta. Other news today - Chris played new singles from Britney/Madonna and the Girls Aloud's cover of The Pointer Sister’s 80’s hit Jump. Rachel had earlier told him it was a cover of the Van Halen hit Jump, which prompted Chris to play Van Halen and pretend to be Girls Aloud singing it. Rachel said she was only joking. Chris didn’t think so. Chris talked about Justin Timberlake buying them chicken again in Sheffield and Aled said that Justin called him ‘a dude’. Dave said there was a first time for everything. Dave had 3 guess who’s - Sharleen, Ricky Tomlinson and Gaby Roslin. Aled said he was a runner for Gaby Roslin on Children In Need when he was on Work Experience with the BBC. He said Terry Wogan wasn’t that nice to him. Chris stuck up for Terry and said he’d always been nice to him when he’d met him. He’s the competition though now Chris. Also on an obscure note, Jess upstairs at Radio 1 showed Chris a postcard they had received today, which was a dedication request from someone called Andrew Mursdon to Gary Davies, when he did the lunchtime show on Radio 1. Dave said good to see the postal system is working as well as ever.
Spoony came in with a bone to pick with Chris. Spoony accused Chris of cheating on Celebdaq as he put money on him knowing that he had breakfast. Chris said that he also bought Sara Cox but that was nothing to do with the news, just supporting his DJ friend. Chris has only kept 10 shares in Dave. Spoony is a bit peeved that he isnt listed on the Celebdaq although Scott Mills is. Spoony made a mistake by thinking that Chris was only on 4 days a week. Spoony managed to plug his Five Live football phone in (how in the heck did he get that job, hes a Liverpool fan, they think Igor Biscan is a good player). Chris had the second play of the Britney song.
UGLYBOBS VERDICT - Better than Kylie's new one but then again that isnt saying much.

DAVES TEDIOUS LINK
REM come from Athens Georgia - Georgia is who the England Rugby team are playing on Sunday - Sunday is a day of rest - Rest Assured had a 1998 hit with Treat Infamy which features the same musical hook as used by the Verve on their hit Bittersweet Symphony - Symphony rhymes with Timpani which are a type of drum - A drum is also a type of rolling tobacco - Tobacco is the prime ingredient in cigarettes - Cigarettes and Alcohol was a hit for Oasis - Oasis is also the name of a drink with the tagline Open Pour Be Yourself Once More - More is the name of a womans magazine - Women make up approximately 50% of the population - Population is found out by the carrying out of surverys and perhaps birth and death records - Records are made out of vinyl - Vinyl rhymes with Lionel as in Blair or Richie - Richie sounds a bit like Rich Tea which is a type of biscuit served with hot drinks - Hot drinks are the opposite of cold drinks and cold drinks are tradionally kept cold with the use of ice cubes - Which links us to Ice Cube and It was a Good Day.
