Today was a momentous day in the history of The Chris Moyles Show as it marked the end of nearly 3 years producing the show for Will Kinder (aka Greyhead, aka Greyhound). The show began with a 2-minute montage of Kinder jingles and drops, plus clips and stuff from the show over the last 3 years. It was excellent and is definitely one for The Sound Vault. It included a message from Chris as Bono, Will jingles from Sport-talk, Miss Piggy, Banzai, the unforgettable Bang Will’s head against the studio window (until he cries like a girl), the Radio 1 Tea-table Update, Pap Idol, Bap Idol and Professor Will’s Harry Potter Surgery - as well as Will and Myleene singing, a clip talking about Titters, Anne Robinson mentioning the show on The Weakest Link - and the Peter Sissons penis-penar * up (if you excuse the pun). Chris said all that and still no bloody Sony.
Will got up at 6 am today and got a cab over to Windsor Fire Station (see yesterday’s review for more). He spent the morning with Green watch - who (despite Will’s fear of heights) launched him 100 feet in the air on their big platform turntable ladder. Will was wearing a free t-shirt he was given this morning for his last show. The pics from his fire engine stuff are on Radio 1 ONLINE and he also had his picture taken for the local paper - which Chris said they would remind everyone of when he was a famous Movie Producer. The fire engine chat was over a bed of David The Photographer playing London’s Burning on the recorder. There was no impressions by Chris and Dave for celeb messages. Chris said Dido, The Chemical Brothers and Fran Healy all recorded messages for Will - but the mini-disc was lost and the only one who knew how to help them get the clips back (Fergus Dudley) was 15,000 miles on the other side of the planet. Chris said they seriously did record messages. He said he did Dido at One Big Weekend....and then asked her to record a message. (der dum cha) Chris said she was waving her white flag after 3 hours. Dave said more like 3 minutes. There were messages from Jo Whiley, Nemone and Sara Cox - who said she remembers how Will was caught out in the office watching mucky stuff on his computer. Will said he didn’t know what she was talking about. She also said she remembered Will producing her first few breakfast shows, where he was leant over and breathing heavily trying to help her with her equipment.
Chris had more surprises for Will. He had an old colleague of Will’s from County Sound Radio on the phone - Andrew Oldham. He was the guy who technically got Will into radio and allowed him to make his coffees when he had a show on Hospital radio, but never let Will go on air.
Chris said he made the mistake of doing it the other way round. 3 weeks after hiring Will on County Sound, Andrew was fired - which he said told it’s own story. He had also provided a selection of archive Will clips from County Sound and Radio Mercury - as he was always happy to stitch up an old mate. Chris played these out. They were all very funny.
The first was Will reading the sports news on County Sound in 1990 and trying his best to say that rain had called an end to play for the day in the England-West Indies Test match. He couldn’t spit it out so gave up after about 5 attempts. There was also a clip of a live show where Will was producer. It was live from some kind of out-day/event. Will thought it’d be a good idea to get a sheep shearer shearing a sheep live on air (while interviewed by the show's presenter) - and had it plugged throughout the show. When it came to the time though, there were no sheep left around, so you had a shearer shearing thin air with Will pretending to be a sheep by making ‘Baa’ noises in the background.
There was a clip from Radio Mercury where Will was a DJ, and screwing up a CD weekend giveaway. You can’t really explain it but it was quality. Chris was also in the process of playing another Kinder local radio classic when Dave asked ‘has it been edited because it contains a category A swear word’. Chris said it would have been his last show as well as Will’s if he had played the clip. Dave said ‘Safety first’.
Paddy O’Connell was in the studio today. He brought Will a Celebdaq jacket and a Celebdaq ruler as leaving gifts. Paddy said he had been thinking a lot about Will leaving and sent him a text late last night. Will said he had received it but hadn’t replied due to the lateness of the hour. Paddy and Will got talking and Chris said he felt like he was interrupting something. He asked Dave if them two were flirting. Dave said he didn’t know but they were certainly a strange double act. Chris put on the romantic/bed and Paddy (in a soft voice) told of his pain
and suffering at the fact Will hadn’t replied to his text. It was very funny. Paddy also revealed Kinder is off to work for the TV production company that made The Vicar Of Dibley. Oh and in Celebdaq Chris is £2.22. Paddy said Dave is still stubbornly on £1.64. Dave: ‘Just the way I like it.
’More messages for Will as Dave Pearce said that he will miss him and recalls a night out with Jessica and good luck at QVC. Scott Mills said that Will told him that he might have been gay but for the fact that he loved breasts that much, plus the story of Will pestering tv's Phillipa Forrester at Zoe Balls wedding and falling into the pool.
Wills Radio Mercury past with week of a thousand hits clips. Chris played another old clip of Sports. Georgina and David did a knock knock joke at the end of the news for Dr Who. Georgina Bowman used Kendra, our American friend on the messageboard, grey heads online site that she made a year ago.
Chris played a classic Greyhead clip where his idea of the phone systems game that wouldnt work on its first day. Wills special guest was Paul Zenon who was going to show him a new trick. Paul said he knows someone that next week will do something at the David Blaine site. Last classic clip showed Wills ineptitude of knowing songs from the 90's, even ones that were played 2 minutes before as the tedious link. Will had a present for all the team. It was a Heat pastiche that he made himself. Chris gave Will his own clapperboard. The last present was in audio format was Diffusion from the site and his boys MOPED. He did sound more like Avid Merrion. The songs they did was Ill Be Missing You, We'll Meet Again, I think a Smiths song, Tina Turners Simply the Best.

Daves Tedious Link
Feeder High - The lead singer of Feeder is called Grant and that was the surname of the brookside character Shiela who was played by Sue Johnston - Sue Johnston teamed up once again with Ricky Tomlinson on the comedy The Royle Family - The Royle Family was co written and starred Caroline Aherne - Caroline Aherne shares the same surname as the Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern - Berties daughter Georgina recently got hitched to Westlife star Nicky Byrne - Nicky Byrne shares the same surname as Tony Byrne - Tony Byrne likes to hang out with the Misteeq ladies - The Misteeq ladies have previously performed live in the city of Leeds as have Green Day - Green Day had a number 11 hit with Good Riddance in 1998 - And Good Riddance certainly wasnt the reaction given by the people when they heard of Wills departure from the show - Will has relished working with heaviweights like Chris and Dave and to a lesser extent Aled and to sum up im sure Greyhead would say Ive had the time of my life - Which links us to Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes with Ive Had the Time Of My Life
