Jon Culshaw was on the show today. I think this will have divided listeners, I’m a big Jon fan so was glad to hear him again, but I think others (Uglybob among them) find him boring. I was happy anyway. There is a new series of Dead Ringers the TV version on BBC2. Chris tells Jon that he doesn’t want him to think that the team resent him since he’s become a huge star and not taking them with him, but Chris missed Dead Ringers, Dave missed the first 10 minutes and Aled didn’t even know it was on. Chris said it’s awkward interviewing Jon because he knows him so well he’s not sure what Jon wants to be said on air and what needs to be kept quiet. Ozzy Osbourne has seen Jon impression of him which impressed Chris. They spoke about the legendary phone call Jon made on the eve of a big fight between Frank Bruno an Lennox Lewis. The show got a load of complaints from listeners who thought that it was real.
This show probably demonstrated well why Jon Culshaw is not on the show anymore. Chris wanted the God Rod Macenzie to do the news at 5pm but he replied that he was in a meeting at 5pm. Dido is beautiful, according to Chris. Chris decided to ring Rod Mackenzie on the internal phone system to see if he was lying. Chris got answered by the switchboard and then put through only to get an answerphone message and a request to leave a message. Jon on the spot thought of leaving a message as Tony Blair. As Chris then pointed out, it wasnt the best thing to do in the current climate at the BBC.
