Today is Will’s birthday. He is 34. All the way through the show Chris said it was his Fortieth. He got 1 card sent in by a listener. The rest of Will’s birthday cards from listener land were delayed in the post. Halfway into the 1st link
Will got a birthday email from Chris’s agent, which was a bit of an after-thought. Chris claimed that Frank Skinner had recorded a special birthday wish for Will, because he listens to the show all the time and Will gives him comedy inspiration. Chris went to find the recording but unfortunately it had been deleted by the dodgy mini-disc machine’. As a consolation, Aled said happy birthday to Will in Welsh and gave him a musical birthday card that played ‘Young At Heart’. Will has been sent a present from ‘Ted the Baker’. They are a pair of enormous underpants with a banana on the back and some nuts on the front. Chris also got sent some similar underpants, but got some socks as well.
Craig David Synopsis
While being interviewed on Radio 1 Craig’s single was being played on Radio 2, which impressed Chris. He’s doing really well in America. Craig reckons the American’s are a bit snobby about their music, they don’t understand why they need someone British doing R&B and Hip Hop when they have so many Americans already in that market. However ‘7 days’, ‘Walking Away’ and ‘What’s Ur Flava’ have all been hits over there.
Craig has worked with the same bloke that sang backing vocals on Chris and Dave’s Song for Europe. The first time they entered it it just missed the final 13 because it was a bit too silly, so the next time they re-entered it, taking out the silly lines and getting this bloke to sing the whole thing rather than Chris. It didn’t even get into the final 30.
He was pleased he got 2 Brit nominations but called one of the awards Best British Robbie Williams Male Award as a dig to the usual happenings of the Brit judges. He is also up for Best British Urban along with Beverley Knight and The Streets. He doesnt really like the Streets. For once I agree with Craig, doesnt happen often.
He spoke about the snub after receiving 6 nominations and not winning away at the 2001 event. He was surprised and thought it was cool that Bono sang the lyrics to Walking Away during their live performance.
Chris asked if he had any showbiz pals. Craig said he didnt want to brag but then proceeded to call Jennifer Lopez Jen. He would like to collaborate with Justin Timberlake, Usher or R Kelly (do they let R N B stars to duet in Prison then?). He would really like to get his hands on Beyonce but said that Jay Z is getting in the way.
Jonny Saunders was on the phone to Andy Mac from Skint to get his free footie tickets. Hes going to see Brighton against Palace but hes only taking his girlfriend and not Chris and the team. Chris was peeved because he said he was the one who gave him the contact with Andy Mac.
Will received special messages from Queens Of The Stone Age, Love Inc, J Lo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Romeo and Eminem. Well he kind of did. It was just Chris and Dave putting on the voices over their songs. Chris did the J Lo impression as a Barry White soundalike and Romeo as a deep voiced Yorkshireman. Dave did Eminem in his dull monotone voice with added bleeps for swearing.
Will did receive a genuine Happy Birthday message from Busted. The problem was that Busted hadnt a clue who he was and said straight laced Happy Birthday Greyhound. The team fell about laughing and played it about 5 times.
Chris brought in the presents. He gave him a knife from the kitchen, a 40th birthday card and a framed signed picture of the team while they were in Las Vegas in their Tuxedos. Chris couldnt believe he was that fat earlier last year. Chris had a Guess Who at the Gym which was Daniella Westbrook. He also saw Nell McAndrew but couldnt use it because Will also saw her.
