New audience figures published today have revealed that Chris's Radio 1 Breakfast Show has attracted nearly 700,000 new listeners during the first three months of the year.
Moyles, who replaced previous host Sara Cox in January, has increased the breakfast audience from 6.50 million to 7.18 million. In the 15+ age group, Chris has also attracted 5.93 million listeners, up from 5.52 million, according to Rajar, the radio industry's ratings body.
Radio 1's overall reach was up 4.3% from the previous figures to 9.85 million, but down nearly 5% on the same period last year.
"It is unlikely you are going to reverse a year of decline in a single quarter," said a Radio 1 spokesman. "Chris Moyles has made a very good start in the breakfast slot. We are very pleased with the results".
