Bude thats North Cornwall right?In 1988 I visited the "Three Counties Show" in Bude where I spied a crowd of people surrounding a man. Believing he to be the vendor of sample pork,or perhaps apple pies,I joined the throng.
As I reached the front the man dropped a pen with which he was signing autographs.I recovered the pen for him,he smiled,signed a photo and returned a gaze which I knew not the meaning of.
The man?Why it was "Newsrounds",very own ,John Craven!

Intriguing hypothesis: Looking at a map of Europe I note that if the UK mainland were rotated upon it's axis (Where is the UK's 'Axis'?-Pontyfrat I reckon) and transposed flush against mainland Europe in jigsaw stylee-then Bude was at some point adjoined to Northern Germany....
