Thought I'd write it here cause this is the advice thread. Got my boyfriend T in the park tickets (weekend) ones for his birthday. Do you think thats a good present? Would you guys expect anything else? Would I have to buy him something to open on the day?

that's a tough one. i think the tickets are sufficient, but a stupid little (cheap) something that will make him go "awww..." might be nice on that day too. i'm crap at buying my boyfriend pressies because he just buys everything he wants before i know he wants it.

See Gus is the opposite. He never buys anything for himself apart from footie tickets, beer and computer games. He buys nice stuff for me sometimes though. Maybe I could get him some clothes as he never buys any clothes for himself unless I take him shopping. He says he just waits for Xmas and birthdays. Is that what most guys do?

i think a lot of guys do that. i know a lot of guys who are also obsessed with clothes shopping, though they all tend to be either gay or metrosexual. i usually buy/get my boyfriend to buy new clothes for him(self) when there are sales or when his pants are patched too much and the pathes fail.

Personally I think Clothes are a cop out for birthday/christmas gift. I prefer to get my own, but I think it's a choice that differs from person to person.

I'm like that, but only because I don't like waiting for a special occasion before I have something I'd like. My mum always tells me off for buying things for myself because then she doesn't know what to get me for a birthday/Christmas present.

Having never had a partner I wouldn't know what to expect, but tickets sounds like a good present to me. I imagine they were quite pricey.

i usually buy him dvd's of things he wants but doesn't think about. it's hard because the stuff i know about, he tells his family about and they buy it for him. i usually end up wandering around the dvd section of a store hopeing for something to grab me, like mad max- awesome movie.

T in the park tickets sound like a very good present. i wish i could go.

I know a lot of guys that buy GQ, and follow the styles, and go shopping lots, and think nothing for paying £100 for a pair of jeans. And they're straight.

It seems like a lot of maintenance to me though..

Do you go with your girlfriend? I went out with a guy when I was 17/18 who used to come shopping with me, give me great fashion advice and buy me lovely clothes. I was gutted at the time we split up but we remained friends. He's now got a boyfriend called Paul who's a model.

They are for me. Maybe slightly too long though, but it seems like a bit of a fasion at the moment to walk around with your jeans under your heels.
