Its also when single girls are at their most vulnerable. Go for it Sidla.

Yep, I feel sick. I know I have to do it today. Can I just send her a text to tell her how I feel and see how she responds?

OK, written up a draft.

"Just to let you know, the rumours are true, I do like you lots and have done for ages. I think you're really special and today seemed like a good day to tell you."

Thoughts?

Very succinct and not at all corny - I like it.

Good for you - I'd love that. Especially as I fall into vulnerable needy mode today, because I'm not feeling well, I've passed two law exams but am disappointed the marks weren't higher (I know this doesn't matter..but I just feel miffed).. So I think I may hide in bed with magazines.

Yeah nice one Sidla - be confident mate, and don't worry if you don't get a reply for a little while. If she's like any of the girls I know, she'll be pondering over how to reply for ages.

She just replied. The news is not good I'm afraid.

"Simon thats well sweet of u but i'm jus not up 4 goin out with any1 at the mo. I'm enjoying bein single. Sorry. I never thought the rumours would b true!"

I'm upset, but relieved at this whole debacle finally being over. So how do I reply to that?

Yes if she's anything like me she'll have spoken to at least 3 friends before she decides what to respond.

Gigglyboots noone scores very high in law exams. The teachers seem to like to leave you disappointed. I got A's through my french and italian exams and was low B's for most of my law exams but studied twice as hard for my law ones. B's and C's will get you into diploma an prob funded. You've done great.

I was afraid of that :(

Looks like I'll be staying out of the pubs for a while.

I replied to her and said thanks for letting me know, and asked if she's still friends. She replied and said of course she's still friends, she wouldn't fall out with me just because I told her I like her. I replied and said I just didn't want her avoiding me or anything, and she replied and said she's not like that. I'm tempted to text her back and say that that's why I love her, but I think I'll hold off from that.

I posted before I saw your post. I'd say thanks for being nice about it hope we can still be mates. Don't show that you're too bothered but don't be rude.

It is a pathetic excuse though, maybe it's a woman thing or maybe it's me, but how can you be happy being single? I bet if the right bloke comes along she'll soon ditch that excuse.

i dunno, she might actually be genuine. it's a lot to expect of somebody to like you, and i don't think she wanted to be mean or hurtfull. i've used that line before and meant it- i was not ready for a relationship. actually, that was different. i never said anything about being single. but whatever, it's best for both of you in the long run.

I hate it when girls say that, it just sounds so stupid. Sorry it didn't work out for you mate.

I was afraid of that :(

As I feared, she just texted tell me that she made the mistake of telling one of her mates and to warn me that I can expect some serious piss taking when I next see them. It was nice of her to tell me, but not so nice of her to tell her mate in the first place (even though I expected she would and was prepared for it). I texted her back and said it's not as though I have anything to be ashamed of. I've been the footy tonight, so probably won't go to the pub now, but I reckon I'll face up to it tomorrow night.

So HER mate is going to rip the piss from YOU because YOU asked HER out. Not a very nice mate.

She's her manager too! To be honest I like her mate but she really needs to grow up a bit. She's 29 FFS!

Things might still be ok. remember my story from a few pages back. i was turned down (just like you) then a couple of months later I was the one that was asked out by her.

Well I don't want to cling on to false hope Eddie but thanks all the same. It's not like there's any other girls I like at the moment though. Her remaining single story could be true, she has been single for a long time.

I like being single, I wouldn't want to be tied down, but she might change her mind, just try keep your options open.

Thanks Betti! We don't get graded by letters here, its a weird common assessment scale. Just waiting on my Legal Systems result, and then hopefully, can celebrate.
