I find it hard to believe I'm 24. When I was 16, 24 seemed really old.

Must have been 1995/6 ish when he was still doing the Late bit on Chiltern radio. 10pm til 2am, and I was about 14 at the time!

The apparently he got fired.... still have it in my head 3 things from that show.... 1) he had a regular caller called Robin, who was a dour sounding guy who used to ring in almost every night, 2) The last show he did on Chiltern he invited as many people down to the car park on Dunstable Downs for a game of football after the show and 3) The saxaphone exit music he used... which i'd still love to get hold of somehow!

This does mean that Graham Torrington has done the same show in that slot for 10-11 years.... HOW!!!

Graham Torrington does all of them. We get him on Leicester Sound.

Haha, loving the football in the car park idea.

I know it's syndicated... wasn't sure if the old late bit was?

Somone mentioned him on Capital around the same time as I would place the old Chiltern shows see, although i seem to remember it being more local to Chiltern.

I was thinking of late 1996, and Chris was still the "new boy" at Capital at the time. He moved from Chiltern to Capital in 1996.

Euro 2000 in Eindhoven. Tuned in especially for the Noel Gallagher interview/acoustic set and liked what I heard. Still have some of that show on tape. I really remember Comedy Dave doing a bang-on impression of David Beckham which I've never heard him do since. Started listening seriously in March 2001 when I got made redundant from my job. Those were the glory days. Mark and Lard from 1, though to Moyles finishing at 5:45. I'd kill to hear more of the old stuff, it annoys me to think that everything he's ever done on Radio 1 is lying in a basement archive somewhere destined never to be repeated.

as a public service broadcaster... we should be able to order tapes of anything we want!

It would be a pain in the arse to administrate though.

I remember Chris aeons ago, but not as Chris... when they put an egg in the microwave. I didn't recognise it as Moyles, as I thought it was a local radio station, though.

A mate at school said how funny the afternoon show was and I was hooked instantly and been listening ever since. If memory serves me right it had only just started on R1 so it was probably around October/November 1998

I was listening from Day 1 of the afternoon show, because at the time I would listen to Mark and Lard in the afternoon and then Moyles started. I was skeptical at very first but pretty much found him funny from the first show I heard. Has gone very much downhill since breakfast.

We probably could.... what with the Freedom Of Information Act and everything. It's in the public interest AND we helped pay for it..... where's me pen!
