On 9/11 (or 11/9 since we're in Britain) me and my brother had to go to Morrisons in Coalville to buy beer. On the way there my brother got a call from his girlfriend who was worried about some friend who worked in New York or something. Then we put Radio 5 on.

When Di died we were camping the night before and I had to get up early to do my Sunday paper-round. The only paper it was mentioned in was the Telegraph and it said it had had 'uncofirmed reports' that Diana had been in a fatal crash in the early hours of the morning, but made it out as though it was unlikely to be true. When I finished my paper round I went back to the field where we were camping and everyone knew.

I don't really remember When Di died, i didnt really kno what was goin on back then.

9/11, i just came home from school and my mum had the news on, and the second one just fell as i came in, to be honest i found it quite shocking and... un believeable

I was "ill" off school and Sept 11th and heard it on 5live when i had a break from Championship Manager and then watched it on TV on BBC.

I was bout 9 or 10 when Diana died and it had zero effect on me but I can still remember what I said and where I was (same as Lucie)

diana - i was 10ish and my mum told me when she woke me up in the morning

9/11 - came back from college early with my mate to play confidential mission on the dreamcast and my sister was watching it. a bit sick the way the kept showing slow motion replays of planes pummeling into buildings at 400mph

Diana dying... I remember I was about 14 at the time, and not really bothered as she was a royal and in my eyes hadn't done anything overly special, just going and looking at minefields.
Weird how everyone was nice about her at the time and the sniping on her character etc took about a year to happen.

Personally I was more bothered about the death of Mother Teresa, which if I remember correctly, happened the same weekend.

Aren't you about 20-odd? Surely it can't be that long since? (I can't be arsed to look it up.)

Diana - I just got up to do my paperround and my old man told me - I thought he was joking at first...

9/11 - I was at work in London when the IT manager sent round a copy of one of the breaking news reports by email. I then helped rig a telly up with BBC news on, which everyone spent the rest of the day watching.
