I'm going to Norwich tomorrow, to see the Uni of East Anglia, UEA - and i'm generally being made by school to think about Uni, so anyone got any useful hints or tips? :)

Yeah, go to Sheffield, great place! I've got a mate at UEA, apparently it's out in the sticks, miles away from Norwich.

any idea how many UCAS points the average entry is? i suppose it depends on the course, what are you doing? :)

Can you not research this..It would vary obviously, because Medicine/Law/Dentistry all require nearly straight A's in Scotland, whereas media studies, politics, etc, seem to be lower (I can do politics on two B's and two C's)

If you search the UCAS website, it tells you the tariff scores for what you want to do. Makes little sense to me, I only have to get 161, and judging by tapping Scottish Highers into their calculator, I have to get three B's and two C's.

What are you interested in doing anyway? I want to go to the University of Glamorgan oddly enough.

yeah i have been on the UCAS website, i'm probably aiming for something approaching 250-300 points.. Looking at the moment to do Business Information Systems at UEA, I need 3 B's for that.. Other places, Portsmouth and Gloucestershire need approx 200 points.. I have a shortlist of uni's but I still havn't picked one out as "the" one I *have* to go to or anything..

Go to Sheffield Hallam. You need hardly any points to get in, yet it's more highly regarded by employers.

UEA is a very good university for Business related courses and is actually highly regarded by alot of people.

There is more to picking a uni. However, have you thought about spending the next 3/ 4 years in Norwich? Now there's nothing wrong with it, but I have to say the Halls remind me of a prison. Now i've not got much experience of the place, but there are other places that offer similar courses.

Take NTU for example. Nottingham Trent do a BIS course and you only have to get 240 points. Not only will you get a gooooood degree but you'll have the time of your life if you like ladies, clubbing and having a laugh with ya mates.

portsmouth is good for pubs and nightlife and the new union is one of the best in the country, there is plenty to do and you get to go to the beach (weather permitting).

But portsmouth is not the best place for business, economics or IT related courses.

Birmingham is a nice university so is exeter and and the university of surrey is great for boozing and slags.

Lmao!

I've got an unconditional offer for HNC Art & Design at my local college which I'm going to accept, then hopefully go to Dundee University and do Graphic Design. It's a great Uni (my brother did Zoology there) and in my experience, girls that do art courses are a bit of alright, good mornin' indeed!

heh, i'm already sorted on the lady friend front.. so no problems there - i really liked UEA, their cheap halls are a bit like prisons! Lol!! but they have these *really* mega nice new ones just been built, £80 a week but it looks well worth it, on the whole I liked the course and very much the uni in general too but I still have a lot more to see and do, thanks for the recommendation of Nottingham - I'll look into it, whee Uni is gonna be so exciting :D

So am I, but there's no harm in looking (until you get a slap from the bird and she ignores you for the rest of the night, leaving you to put up with ice-cold stares from her friends, who are watching you like a hawk)....sorry, got a bit carried away there, just talking from personal experience :?

No there not.. I live in Guildford which is where Surrey Uni is and the girls are okay, they wouldnt be best pleased if they read this. The union is a great enviroment, however the town itself needs alot more places [pubs/ clubs] to go to..
