I know Harry Potter really bugs some people, but this is trash, so who the hell cares! I finally got around to seeing the film today and here is my mini-review.

The directing style is completely different, and very noticably so. Also the acting of the kids was a lot different too, it was almost like they were 3 different people.

And though it was possibly one of my favourite books of all time, the story didn't really work on the big screen. They had to take loads out of the story, and most of the last hour of the film came from the last couple of chapters in the book. What was nice about the book was that the twist in the story came right at the end, but in the film it was in the middle and it caused a bit of an anti-climax. There wasn't really any quidditch in it, and the quidditch scenes in the book with the Firebolt didn't feature (apart from recieving it at the end).

Also, some of the stuff that I would have thought would be essential to the on-going storyline didn't feature. Cho Chang wasn't in it for a start. Also, there was no mention about where the Maurader's Map came from, and how Lupin knew what it was. It didn't explain why Black and Pettigrew (and Harry's father) were all animagi.

Some bits were done well, like the Hippogriff scene, and I thought the time travel bit was cleverly thought out. But for me, it just didn't capture my imagination in the same way that the book did. Having said that, I think I would have loved the film if I hadn't read the book first.

I would suggest to anyone who has seen the film, but not read the book, to now read the book and let me know what you think.

It's a good childrens book though. Not wanting to offend but if you don't like it why do you bother to read/reply to a thread about it?

Anway,

I can't wait to see the film Sidler. Thanks for you review.

The fact that people get annoyed at adults reading a book seems alot sadder than the actual adult reading the book, in my opinion.

Even though Harry Potter is a childrens book I can understand why after 'Potter Mania' swept the world why people of all ages would want to read it to find out what the big deal was.

I take it you saw that episode of Room 101 then?

Shut the * up. Who the hell cares what people read? Is it a crime to enjoy a childrens story?

But anyway, back to the film. Has anyone else seen it?

I remember reading the first book when it came out and I was in year 7 (i.e 11/12 yrs old and a kid). I therefore don't see anything wrong with reading the new books or watching the new films now.

The Azkaban film is good, better than the first two in my opinion. James King and Mark Kermode both gave it great reviews too I notice..

Book 3 was by far the best, shame she's a plaigarist [if thts how u spell it]. I agree the film was too rushed, no sense of time, Harry couldnt act in the scene where he blows up his aunt and the film was dissapointing, as was book five.

Agree with that totally, even though yo posted twice.

To be honest though, I'd rather hear from someone who hasn't read the book. I think I would have enjoyed the film more if I hadn't.
