It's an internal BBC system. Do you really think you could call up a number from outside and say the name of anybody to get through?

How does this work?

Do you just pick up the handset and does the thing automatically asks you?

Also, does everybody have a phone? Surely that can't be possible with the amount of people the Beeb employs?

you pick up the phone and dial an extension number and that'll put you through to the computer (i imagine) ..and most people will have a desk phone, or perhaps it just forwards the call to their mobile? i'm not 100% sure, just guessing..
