As Spoon says, it was easy when we were doing exams - do a load of GCSE's, get C's and above in all of them do three A lvels, Fail 2 and Pass 1 and scrape in to Uni through clearing and finally get a degree.

I don't get all this Key skill, stage 2 bollocks, it's all rubbish. And all this year year 11 bollocks, it's the 5th form! Grrr....

I did key skills a couple of years ago at college while I was studying animal care. It consisted of our course coming in on a friday morning being taught maths by a bloke who couldnt speak english and took half the lesson to call the register. That was for one hour. Then we had an hour of IT with a woman who hardly knew how to turn a computer on for another hour and then an hour of english which was basically writing job applications to fake job adverts.

The worst thing was that I was over 21 and so as it was only compulsery up to the age of 19 I didnt have to do it but my personal tutor said I had to do it anyway and pay about £100 for my certificate.

Grrrr

I never knew you could scrape to uni..I need AAAAB. So that's next year spent revising.

I missed Key Skills and AS levels by a year, but we did classes on current affairs, morality and study skills for no marks. They seemed like such a waste of time because hardly anyone turned up for them.

its not a waste. there needs to be some way of getting young people (oh my god i sound old) understanding what goes on in the world. if only they did lessons in common sense.

What's that in points? Or have they changed that too?

Most people would fail common sense in some way. The very same people that spray their deodorant right up to their hands for about five minutes, then get their parents to ring the care lines to complain about their poor babies rash on the back of their hands.

There are a lot of academically intelligent people who haven't got a scooby what common sense is as well.

Yes that is very true, I knew a girl who was doing 6 A Levels, but she had no common sense what so ever.

They've changed all the points thingys. I got 6 points, but compared to the points system of today that sounds diabolical. To be honest it is diabolical, but it sounds even more diabolical today than it did in my day.

I don't mean it was a waste of time doing it, I just think they're needed to be some sort of grade or acheivement for it to encourage the class to attend (like there is now). It was a waste of time putting the class on when only half showed up.

780. Ouch. So as rough guess an A is something like 165 points? That's just a rough guess. Sounds like too much work. *sighs* Maybe I'll become something simpler (I don't want to state any professions, one of you is bound to be them and love it...and hate me for saying it..) How did you get that score? I do it on the UCAS thing and end up with something like 650.
