oh crap. I forgot to add about my new found curiousity in the super furry animals. someone, very excitedly (not in that way), played me some of their songs a while ago. they sounded good but they sounded quite experimental on this particular album and I think I would have appreciated the songs better listening to them with headphones on just as I fall asleep.
juxtaposed with you is absolutely great. very strangely, xfm said a week ago, or perhaps two, that it was their record of the week and "don't listen to people who say it just sounds like the lighthouse family. I gets better everytime you hear it." A few days later moyles, although he wasn't slagging off the record, was starting to say it sounds just like the lighthouse family :)
It's a great record & the video is brilliance itself.

uglybob - all good except for the big fat missy elliot. "get your freak.."..in' fat ass away from me.
[This message has been edited by Monkey (edited 23 June 2001).]

>Any band that samples Steely Dan's 'showbiz kids' is always worth a listen 'SFA' do not dissapoint.
Although the Sterophonics are now at the peak of their career, lead singer Kelly Jones still remains staunch in keeping any kind of personalitie a closley guarded secret.
The best current album comes from 'Zero 7' its called 'Simple Things' and its a wonderful thing and will hopefully soon be spread around the sallons.

i was dissapointed with the gorillaz album to be honest.
i don't understand why a few people seem to hate blink 182 so much, except for the fact that they are very popular these days. ok, so they may have sold out slightly. but if you took the time to listen to some of their old stuff, you may change your mind, as it is brilliant. when i was 13 me and my friend saw them in a crappy little place in manchester, with about 30 people in the audience. my friend nicked tom's cap at the end. and now look at them. respect i say. if you don't like the style of music thats another thing altogether, but not really a reason to diss them.
i also know someone with one of super furry animals' welsh language albums. i think they released a number of these before they started singing in english. it is insane, and is a little bit scarygogogogogogchphylm.

Lara: The Music, one of Lamaq's favourites - British indie/rock band - apparently gonna hti the big time soon. Also look out for The Strokes from New York - gonna be big.
D12 - now theres a good album, much darker than Eminems other stuff with some good songs on there.
Missy Elliot album is good, no matter what you think of Get UR freak on. One Minute Man is the new single which will be around ALL summer and will annoy the hell out of you :)
Blink 182, pile of shite. Don't like the style of music, don't like them - but I suppose their better than Limp Wristed. Just.
Gorillaz album, as I said, takes a few listens. Stick with it - it's only their first album to be fair and they are experimenting. They're creating a new sort of music - and thats no easy job.
I would list the last few albums I've got, but I've forgotton and I've got too many (not listened to most of them).
the_dr

Strange. Normally bands print whatever they want (swearing, etc) on the back of cds. Anyway, how would I know? I haven't *bought* any music for 4 years! :)
the_dr

you cheeky rapscallion.
i think i might "steal" my first cd, by copying someone else's gorillaz album that I just aquired. Although it's pretty good so I might buy it. nah maybe not, i'm off to get some cd r's.
oh by the way, on the muse album which off the latter tracks is quite slow and lament like?
[This message has been edited by Monkey (edited 26 June 2001).]

just in case you're wondering i'm bringing back an old topic. sorry :)

right. after all that stuff i wrote in this topic ages ago. i've now got;

travis - invisible band (a bit too acoustic, though very good from what i've heard. should listen to it more),

stereophonics - word gets around, (nice, very. similar to performance and *, but different enough and only perhaps one below par song on the whole album)

avalanches - since i left you. (wicked o wicked o wicked, jungle is massivvvvve. :) excellent to listen to as a whole album. very weird when i first got it. benefits greatly from a few repeat listens. as nme said "cool? sure, whatever. brilliant? undoubtedly."

super furry animals - rings around the world.
(weird, but the three or four excellent tracks fit in with the other, average, ones and 'presidential suite' is wicked. trust me.

music rant over. :)
well not a rant as such. but hopefully you know what i mean. :)

Ooooooooooooookay then (C) Steve

I have got, in the last few days, the new albums from

Charlatans
Pulp
PJ Harvey
Stairsailor

And I have the real CD of Spiritualized's new album. The case is the strangest I have ever seen - it's creamy plastic with a inset shape on the cover of a woman with pigtails (aparently it's Jason Pierce's wife). Inside (you lift a sticker thats stuck on a slot in the side) theres a cardboard case with the track names printed like braile on the cover, with no track numbers so it looks a bit like a poem. Inside the cardboard case there is a cd - but there is no top or bottom to the cd - it is completely gold on both sides - but only one side works in your cd player.

Very strange. Not listened to any of them yet, though :)
