Today’s show is Fergus Dudley’s last as executive producer, as he’s going away on a 3 month break according to Chris, who said his job will be gone by the time he gets back. To celebrate this, Chris messed about with the internal phone system, playing the high-pitched ‘Fergus Dudley’ voice out again. Chris also tried to get in contact with Radio 1’s online staff, but Geordie Kid Scottie is back in Newcastle preparing for the Great North Run, some other guy Dave knows called Alan Braidwood had his phone on answerphone - and the closest the internal phone system got to finding the Radio 1 Online boss Roz Lawler was ‘Roy Head’. The reason in trying to contact them was the Radio 1 Website had Wes not Chris down as being on air now. Chris went into a rant saying he had been at the station for 6 years and they still didn’t know who he bloody was. For some reason at this point a loud clip of a random show bed interrupted him for no particular reason.
Dave said Chris still had it. Chris said he’d also been there for 6 years and still didn’t know how to work the equipment. There was also a few other technical difficulties in the first half hour. Bobby and Nihal were pre-recording next door and the bass from their studio was bleeding through on to the air. He got Aled to open the door and told them to keep it down. Chris also started off with a mic check as he thought everybody was too quiet. This as usual ended with Chris turning Dave’s down low so Dave couldn’t be heard. Also, while searching for a new show bed from David Holmes (not that new - it’s used on lots of commercial stations, i have it on the Oceans 11 soundtrack - edit bob) Chris thought incorrectly he may have accidentally deleted the station’s entire collection of jingles.
RI:SE has been axed finally by Channel 4 today and Chris said he had no idea how it was still on the air. He slagged off Iain Lee and said although Kate Lawler was a sweet girl, fit and quite good on the radio (she does a show on Capital I think) - she was a god awful TV presenter. Chris offered to host Channel 4’s new breakfast show and said he had a great idea for it. While someone reads the news in the centre of the screen, he suggested having a man in a nappy bashing a symbol on the left, and on the right 2 dwarves throwing jelly at each other. Sounds better than RI:SE anyway. Chris is going up to Leeds to watch them play Birmingham tomorrow. He bet £3 Leeds would win, Dave bet £3 quid Birmingham would win - with the bet void if it’s a draw. Aled is going to a ‘baby naming’ ceremony over the weekend. He said it was basically a type of non-religious christening. Aled is going to announce the baby’s name which is Pippa. He said it was short for something but couldn’t remember what. Dave said Pippadom. While discussing the fish head song again, Aled said he dreamt last night that Chris was dressed as an angel in white tights, standing in the corner of his bedroom singing it. Dave said Chris would look like the Michelin man in white tights.

Celebdaq: Paddy O’Connell was on live from the Celebdaq TV studio. The big news is Chris’s price has ‘dramatically’ risen to £2.30, while Dave is still on £1.64. This confused everyone as despite having got married and been in Heat etc, Dave stayed the same price and Chris went up. Chris is now level with Sharon Osbourne, Bob Geldof, Chris Evans and Anthony Worrall-Thompson. He was proud. Paddy’s tips are to buy Paul McCartney and sell Madonna. Apparently, the sausage throwing contest at David Blaine’s box arranged by a gay website has now been cancelled.
Blaine is £5.87 incidentally. Paddy suggested you should buy Victoria Hervey because London Fashion Week is coming up. Chris said you shouldn’t because she’s a frumpy dogface. When discussing Ben and J.Lo, Paddy said that he had heard from the horses mouth (Chris replied with ‘what Victoria Hervey’) that they were still together. Apparently his source was Seal who has seen them together over the last few days. Dave asked ‘Are you close personal friends with Seal?’ and Paddy said 'I’m just saying what I’ve seen'. Chris said Roy Walker from Catchphrase used to said that.

Ray Stubbs was on talking about football today as Jonathan Pearce’s wife has just given birth to their new daughter. Chris did a good impression of Pearce and John Motson doing commentary on the birth, which Aled said gave him a mental image that he just did not need.

Stereo MC's Step It Up - Step it Up was released in 1992, the same year as Tasmin Archers Sleeping Satellite - Tasmin Archer is from Bradford as are the band Terrorvision - Terrorvision had a big hit with Tequila - Tequila is from Mexico which is famous for its bandits - Bandits can often be armed and dangerous - If you add the letters m and e, you get dangermouse who was probably the worlds seconds most famous mouse after Mickey - Mickey was a 1982 hit for Toni Basil - Basil was the name of John Cleeses character in Fawlty Towers, the show which also featured Manuel the waiter who was Spanish - And the Spanish language is ful of word which are totally different to ours such as paella, sombrero and perfecto - Which links us to Perfecto Allstars and Reach Up (Papas Got A Brand New Pig Bag)
