Taking The Chris (Phil Kemp)

The Chris Moyles PR machine trundles on in today's Guardian, to go with those Beeb ads of him dressed as a binman that are doing the, er, rounds at the moment.

Moyles as a dustman? No, we thought that was his genuine chosen profession/calling too.

Saying that, the Grauniad's Moyles featurette has got us nodding in agreement with one opinion of the mouthy great white hope of Radio 1's troubled breakfast show.

Flaming Pap Idol. That's where we concur. Oh yes.

The Guardian explains: The only record to have offended him (Moyles) last year is the Pop Idol single Happy Christmas (War Is Over).

(He said) 'The record company is making money out of 11 losers who got kicked off a show because they couldn't sing as well as the winner, singing a John Lennon classic, which he wrote to make a point.

'When I first heard about it I thought, well, the money's obviously going to go to charity.

'It's not. It's going into someone's pocket and I can't believe it. I wouldn't have a problem if they did Merry Christmas Everyone.

'But taking that song, which has a sentiment behind it - whoever's responsible should be ashamed of themselves. I'm quite angry about that. May they burn in hell.'

Simon Cowell? 'I guess. That Simon Fuller will have had a hand in it as well.'

Does Moylesy have the mettle to give the Pop Idol peddlers their long-awaited comeuppance? Time will tell.
