anyone else played this game yet?

I bought it today and I have to say it's an improvement on '04, for a start where you had to use the analog sticks to steer in '04, you can now use the D Pad again in this one.

Also I did a bit of practise on the new Turkish track and it looks like yet another interesting mix of high speed and twisty technical sections from mr Tilke (who also designed the other 3 latest additions to the calendar, Sepang, Bahrain and Shanghai.) Should make for an interesting first race like his other tracks have over the last 5-6 years.

Controls seem enhanced too, and they've added in new little cutscenes into the weekend/championship modes.

Also in this one you can use Eyetoy to add your face to your driver profile. I like that you can enter races etc in your own name again, a feature not present in F1 games since at least F12000 and very welcome back.

That was a good game but I never owned it, just whupped my mate's @ss on it a lot at gaming sessions he used to host.

no that would be Michelin that do that, and they aren't releasing their own version.

It demotes Kimi Raikkonen 10 places on the grid for his engine blowup on the friday practise in France though...

only 6 cars in a race, that'll put the chavs in their novas even further into the illusion that they are Schumacher, Button etc themselves, and that their crappy modbodges are 'street F1 cars'.

has he given obviously inferior drivers preferencial (sp?) treatment over their more-talented teammates like Ron Dennis has been doing since Mika Hakkinen joined the team
Coulthard easily had the potential to be a champion at McLaren if it wasn't for all that BS where he had to pull over and let Hakkinen through in the first race of the season, and then he had to play second fiddle to Kimi, even though he's been with the team longer. I can see why he left and now says even joining McLaren was a big mistake. Montoya is also a better racer IMO but Raikkonen still gets more help .

Don't tell me, you're one of those people that are just bitter about Ferrari's success, which Ross obviously plays a big part in.

with them games i hate the way you have to qualify before u get to race

instant race/arcade mode you dont have to, you can edit the grids in certain modes too, but I think thats mainly multiplayer. Also with arcade you dont have to do the setup you do in simulation mode. Personally I prefer to tinker with stuff like gear ratios in the F1 games and GT, Toca Race Driver etc...

I don't rate Montoya at all. He promises so much, but never delivers.

look at the cars he's had, a substandard Williams and a McLaren that keeps having engine blowups on him and Kimi... There's 2 perfectly good parts of the reason he hasn't delivered as promised. No One remembers his great moments like outracing Kimi in brazil last year in a car that shouldn't really have won, and taking the fight to Schumacher a few times, including at least one in his first season.

I think in a few years he will be thinking the same way that Coulthard is now, that signing with the McLaren team was one of the biggest mistakes of his career.
