What did everyone think about the tv programmes this Christmas? Personally i was very disappointed compared to previous years with only a few stand out shows. The one ronnie i thought was probably the best closely followed by the royle family (which wasn't as good as last years) followed by come fly with me. I was very disappointed with the new doctor who also.

I truly, deeply, profoundly and absolutely HATE The Royle Family. The Little Cracker things or whatever they're called have been brilliant, the Catherine Tate one I think is my favourite. Realistically though, we hardly watch telly at Christmas - I always look forward to loads of things and never get around to actually watching them.

Been a bit of a mixed bag really, I was a little disappointed with the one ronnie but then again i was always a ronnie barker fan so the idea of replacing him, whoever they put in was gonna be tough. I did like Come Fly With Me, not a big little briton fan but this new show was very funny. Doctor who was good, only really watch the show at christmas, other than that nothing really stood out

It's funny peoples opinions are so varied.

One ronnie was ok
Doctor who was sleep inducing ( did the 5 pints and half a glass of wine have an impact? unsure)
Fly with me.... not good

Royle Family, I said I wouldn't watch as last years was abizmal, started too and really really enjoyed it.

Come dine with me, excellent.

Looking forward to the Two Ronnies thing on new years day, and saw a trailer for the "nigel slater" story, but can't now find what side or what time, help needed on that one please. I love his camp geekyness, and his cooking is cool too, I got his vol 2 for Christmas, and would love to see him picked on in home Ec'

I can easily see why people may have disliked The One Ronnie and Come Fly with Me. I just really liked Little Britain and am in to that sort of comedy. I am usually a massive fan of Doctor Who as well but I have just started to dislike it since Matt Smith has started but I don't think its his fault, I just think the writing has got worse. But The Royle Family I always enjoy

Oooh, I'd like to see that - he has had quite a strange life from what I can gather, and the how and the why of what he does now is all tied in with his father and his childhood and crap - if I can find out when its on I'll let you know. Otherwise, if anyone else knows, let me know?!

I have watched absolutely nothing this year.....not even top gear. The wife and kids have all been ill.

I saw a few things:

TopGear was quite good, it was nice that they didn't feature supercars for the one episode ;)

Come Fly With Me - it was alright, not a complete waste of time watching it but like someone posted on Twitter most of its humour seemed to rely on racial stereotypes, although I love how the two of them do all these different characters.

Other than that I didn't see much else, I kind of stopped watching Doctor Who after David Tennant left. It wasn't a case of the new doctor was rubbish or anything; I just stopped watching after the last series ended and never started again.

Top Gear, Come Fly With Me, The One Ronnie, The Royle Family, Dr Who - all provided me with easy to watch pish over the past few days.

Would I class it as earthshattering telly? Nah. Did it allow me to veg on a sofa like it is designed to? Absolutely.

The Christmas telly has been crap at best though the little crackers on Sky have been quite good, especially Chris O'Dowd's.

Thank you - you are a Star!

His Tender vol 2 is really good book.

I've hardly watched anything either - I've either been at work or at my parents' and my mum doesn't like tv. I did see Come Fly With Me and it was okay, but I agree about the slightly dodgy racial stereotyping. I missed Top Gear and some of those Little Crackers, but I'm gonna have a downloading session to try to catch up.

Last night's Morecambe and Wise evening on BBC 2 was unequivocally the best night's TV of the holiday period. The 1976 Christmas Special was brilliant, the Victoria Wood drama was unbelievably amazing, with magical casting, writing and performances and the documentary that followed was also superb. I really enjoyed that. Also we recorded Bee Movie and Wall-E in the afternoon so all in all a great day for the BBC yesterday.

I just started to watch Wall-E and I was really disappointed with it and gave up after half an hour and I hate to say that about a Pixar movie as I have loved every one.

Liked Come Fly with Me, Doctor Who, QI, The Royle Family & Top Gear, didn't bother with much else of the rest, I was away for half of the Christmas period at football games anyway but there's never much else on over Christmas any more anyway.

Well, I think it is a lot different to many of the other films, I think it's more serious and less entertaining. But the setting and the storyline are really great in my opinion.

I just didn't like the fact that there was no dialogue in the first 20 minutes. And that just completely put me off it.

Watched Wall-E this morning, and I have to say I liked it a lot, but I can't see any way it could hold a child's interest. The first half hour is really slow moving and Baby Yudster, who likes films and is usually very good at following plots, needed a running commentary to keep tabs on what was going on. He liked the last 15 minutes a lot better.

I hate to tell you......but that's the point! I think its very clever and I think the first 20mins of wall-e are brilliant

It is the point yes, but its also what makes it useless as a kids film. Which is, after all, what its supposed to be. BY did like it, but he wasn't gripped by it like he often is when he's watching a film.

I liked it. Him. Just didn't rate it as a kids film. Although with a lot of kids movies are all about the merchandising - if they love the toys they imagine they love the film, and the Wall-E merchandising was good if I remember rightly. We rarely go to see films at the cinema, so by the time we see them the merchandising is usually a thing of the past!

Indeed. Some of it is even worth buying - but it annoys me when kids insist on having the toys when they haven't even seen the film!
