Howdy Doody!
Curry. Yummy. I like Curry.

I'm one of those people who will stare at the takeaway menu for 20 minutes before always picking the same thing - a Chicken Jalfrasi with Pilau rice and a Cheese Nan. And poppadoms of course. (Mrs Zoot can eat Lime Pickle by the spoon load... I have no idea how she can do that...)

Also, Asda's curries are fantastic too, and so much cheaper than a takeaway. The poppadoms aren't great though.

Soo, which way do you swing when it comes to Curry? How Hot can you take?
Which is the best Curries - Takeaway, From a jar, Frozen or from scratch?

(The title is too piss off the Zoot's Bar haters by the way... Hi Topher! )

Haha.

As I said else where, I tend to get the skitters* when I eat curry. So unless you create "Zoots Toilet"** then i'll not bother thanks.

*I think I have said in a previous post that I don't use that word. I appear to have been lying.
**Dont.

well, the curries and drinx are being discussed in cyber space, so it's not a curry house or a bar in the street, is it !!

Just because you talk about a radio DJ doesn't make it a virtual radio station does it?

I like curry made with a jar if it is a decent one, the Sainbury's Taste The Difference range are good. Curry made from scratch always feels very virtuous, but somehow never quite hits the spot - I probably need to practise more. I do however recommend Madhur Jaffrey's Spiced Basmati Rice recipe, which I cook often, and is sublime. The best Indian food I have ever had was a banquet cooked for my department by a collegue (from Burma) who was leaving, and made us this unbelievable meal as a leaving gift. Burmese food is simply wonderful. Failing that, I like good old curry-house meals. I don't like the bland creamy ones, like Kormas, I like a bit of heat to a curry, but not too much or I find I can't taste anything. Vindaloo is beyond my scope - Faal obviously also. I love a good Madras, Bhuna also - I have never quite got to grips with Balti, I probably need to go to Birmingham to understand what the fuss is about there. I also like all the bits and bobs, parathas, naans, poppadums, bhajis, all that crap I can't spell. Oooh, and Bombay Potatos. Have to have those. And anything with cauliflower. Cauliflower and potato are so good when curried. I can't bear spinach though.

Can you summarise the above, I don't tend to read posts of more than 3 lines.

The puddings can be pretty good too. A pistachio kulfi is good if you've had a hottish curry, as it cools your mouth down. Chocolate barfis are good just to eat on thier own. Pretty cheap to grab if you're passing a sweet centre. The place in Brum that i live in has loads of such places; after a while you get recognised and given double portions. Tricky on the waistline though.

My curry of choice is a vegetable dopiaza, or a bhuna if not. I have to be careful as I'm vegan and quite a few contain milk, cream and/or yogurt, but you get to know which after a while. I usually have plain rice, altho a takeaway near where I live does fantastic coconut rice, and maybe some samosas. I also like peshwari naan but again they sometimes contain milk or yogurt.

Marks and Sparks do good curry sauce in a jar.

What he said. But it doesn't matter, I only write crap, you know this anyway, so a summary isn't really necessary.

Had curry at work today, they can knock up quite a good curry for a school, mini-poppadums, plain mini naan bread and mango chutney are the only extras, and the curry is only slightly spicy (cus it's a school! lol), but hey... it's free!

Well surely Zoot's bar is the natural antidote to Zoot's curry house. I'm struggling to NOT make another Red Dwarf reference here.

Lager, the only thing that can kill a vindaloo...

Did it for you!

Our takeaway do meal deals and I can't look at the side dishes without thinking about Red Dwarf. They have things like Bindi Bhaji, and Tarka Dhall...

As I have said, I have no problem with the discussions, except with the pretending to be a real bar and order drinks thing, that's all a bit pathetic.

I imagine you are a proper telly addict - your posts are littered with references to some film or TV program (usually some sci-fi load of pony.)
