I don't have any expectations, all forums (fora? I don't know.....) are different. I just drop in, and if I enjoy myself, I stay. If I post something stupid (often) I expect to get called on it, if I post something nasty I expect to get argued with, if someone is nasty to me, well, it depends why, they might have a good point! I try not to get upset about it anyway.

I stayed here because it is a bit edgy, quite funny, and on the whole reasonably intelligent, although there will always be fools wherever you go. At around the same time I joined up here, I also had a look at Unofficialmills, because I quite liked Scott Mills' show then (not so much now) - and ran away very fast as it seemed to be populated by lads and nymphets who lived in a world of candy floss and alco-pops, and everyone had an agenda - it felt like school. On the face of it it was a big love-fest, but no one struck me as particularly real. Here, its certainly not a love fest, and there is a level of reality which feels a little more adult.

I don't really like the insults personally... they hurt... suppose it depends on mood! I know if I'm down, I'd like some laughs, and if you're down and come on here to insults, it gets ya down even more.

I've never been one to take offence to be honest and am quite a placid person, if someone says something that is meant to be insulting to me I just let it go over my head. I do appreciate not everyone's like that, however, I find it hard to believe that someone can't rise above comments made on a web site by a stranger.

Well, the topic is called "forum expectations" - i don't know what they might be, but clearly one thing you should never expect from a group of total strangers is automatic and universal understanding and kindness, nor a remedy for having a bad day. You can't proscribe other people's reactions to you. When I get grief on here, if I am honest, its usually because I have asked for it somehow, if only by posting naively. And mostly I think other people who get a lot of grief have contributed to it in some way to some extent. But like I said, one of the things I like about this group is that you don't really get away with much, there's an element of risk every time you post!

I have to admit I really like this forum, there seems to be some real characters on here, and a nice sense of humour running through it.
I've been a member of a few forums in my time (I admit, I'm a chatroom slapper...) but there doesn't seem to be as much arrogance and trolling here as other forums i've been to.
